Tip

Resolving 169.x.x.x IP address problems.

Information:
This article outlines methods of resolving issues with a 169.x.x.x IP address. This address results from a built in feature of windows called automatic private IP address(APIPA). When your computer is unable to find a DHCP server the APIPA service will assign itself a 169.x.x.x IP address. According to Microsoft, the APIPA service checks for a DHCP server every five minutes.
Workaround:
Releasing the IP address
1. Click on Start and click Run.
2. Inside Run, type ipconfig /release to release the IP address.
3. Then after the IP address is released, type ipconfig /renew

Disabling the Ethernet Adapter
1. Click on Start and right click on My Computer. Then click on Manage.
2. Click on Device Manager and then Network Adapters
3. Under Network Adapters, right click on your Ethernet adapter and select Disable.
4. Wait approximately 5 seconds and right click on it and click Re-enable.
5. This restarts the DHCP client and tries to obtain an IP address from the Network.

Check the Ethernet cable
Sometimes a bad Ethernet cable can cause your system to receive a 169 IP address, try changing out the cable for a new one.
Disable antivirus and firewall applications
Disable/uninstall any external firewall, antivirus, or spyware programs (eg. Norton Internet Security, McAfee Security Center, Trend Micro 2007, Webroot).
Restarting the QoS packet scheduler Protocol
1. Click on Start and click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double click on Network Connections and then Local Area Connection.
3. Click on Properties and uncheck QoS Packet Scheduler.
4. Click Ok and repeat the process.

Restarting the DHCP service
1. Click Start and select Run.
2. Type services.msc in Run and click Ok.
3. Find DHCP service and right click on it. Click on Stop.
4. Reboot the computer.
5. When the computer boots up, click Start and select Run
6. Inside Run, type the following: netsh int ip reset log.txt
7. Click Ok.

System Restore
1. Open Start and click on Programs and then Accessories.
2. Then click on System Tools.
3. Click on System Restore and select a restore point when you were not experiencing this problem.
4. Restore your system

My problem is my wifi?when my wifi connected other network but internet is not working?

Open a command prompt shell. type the following:

ipconfig release

press enter

ipconfig renew

now see what happens. Make sure that your ip address is not the same as your modems ip address. Always have your systems assign ip addresses automatically unless you are running a business that requires specific ip addresses for all the computers.

Where can ip address for my acer one aspire netbook

  • Go to the Start menu, go to Run, and type "CMD" in the dialog box (without the quotes.)

  • jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep2 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a01/vq/ee/computer-ip-address-windows-1.2-800X800.jpg'); });

Now you should see a dark (DOS) window that looks just like the picture on the left of this article step.

Without the quotes, type "IPCONFIG" and press ENTER.

Now you should see some network information, along with the IP ADDRESS of your computer listed.

Window system error: there is an IP address conflict with another system on network?

The router to which you are connected is badly configured so th same IP has been issued to another pc. Either configure the router to assign the addresses in its network dynamically or manually assign yourself different addresses to every pc.

Can not get wireless connection on asus notebook

    Hi,

    Try resetting the network adapter.

On the bottom right hand side of the desktop you will see the wireless icon, right click on that ans click on troubleshoot problems. This will reset the adapter and assign an IP address for your your PC.

When its done try to connect to the internet.

If this advice does not help please post back.

    Good luck.

    Replace the Cable and Check.

If the problem still persists then

Give the same network setting to the wireless network adapter as you assigned to your local area connection.

Note: Before doing that remove the IP address of that Local area connection or change it's IP address to some other number.

This will most probably solve your problem.

Otherwise, Used an external USB Wireless Adapter.

Wireless connection problems with Acer 5050

this can happen when the signal is too weak or when your pc has changed it's ip address to the default 168.254.0.1 or similair if it's tried a repair of the network. Check that your network card is set to obtain ip address automatically and restart if necassary.
