Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I am trying to put a new black ink cartridge in my printer, but the thing that holds the cartridges seems firmly ensconced in the right hand side of the printer and won't move across ... I've tried pretty much every button ... can you help?
With the power on and the lid up, click on the red stop (left panel). You will notice the cartridges move to the left and then they come back and stop halfway. Afterwards you should be able to slide the cartridges manually with your hand to the larger area on the right where you could do the cartridge change. Once you've moved it to that area just the lift the cover where the arrow is.

With the scanner cover lifted, press and hold the arrow button for approx. six seconds. Once the print carriage begins to move, you can release the button. The print carriage will then indicate which cartridges require replacing. Press the arrow button each time the carriage moves to the low ink indicator, and eventually it should park in open area on the right. Now replace the ink cartridges previously indicated, Once replaced, press the arrow button once more and allow the printer a few moments to charge the print head.
Hope this helps!

I had the same problem. i checked the web for a solution but found none. so what i had to do was press the red stop button (under the power button) until the ink went over to the left, then when it came back over to the right and passed by the opening where you can actually get your hand in to change the ink, i quickly pressed down on the long grey release button and pulled it up, stopping the ink from going over to the extreme right where its impossible to get at. i quickly turned off the power then to stop it in its tracks to prevent damage. i changed the ink, clicked back down the grey button and pressed back on the power. probably is bad for the printer but it worked for me. hoped this helps.

What is happening is the cartridge goes over to the arrow tab on the left to show you which cartridge is empty. (There may be more than one that needs changing). Then it should go over to the right to allow you to change it.
NB It is probably best to use Epson cartridges as I had to get my printer 'fixed' due to waste ink cartridge full - which doesn't appear to be user accessible.
