Kingston datatraveler 8G shows write protection error, contain a virus outorun.inf, cannot save, cannot be formated and cannot delete. Please help.

1. Open Notepad and do not write anything in it. Just go to File > Save as (save it with the name: autorun.inf)

2. Copy the autorun.inf file that you have created in the above step and paste in your "Pen Drives"

3. Remove your pen drive.

After removing the pendrive, re-insert in your PC. Now your anti-virus will not detect any virus in your PC. And Your pendrive is 100% safe to use.

I have a autorun.inf virus in my cimputer that disable my task manager and regedit. please help me!!

Remove the disk-drive from your computer.
Attach it as a "slave" disk-drive in a different computer that has up-to-date anti-virus software installed.
Run the anti-virus software, targeting "all" the files on that "slave" disk-drive,
if you believe that it is possible for any anti-virus software to remove 100% of any computer-virus.

Or, read: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700813.aspx

which describes "best practises", namely to copy all your data files, "flatten" the disk-drive,
reinstall Windows, and reload your data.

Or, take this incident as an "opportunity" to install a new (larger? faster?) disk-drive into your computer, disconnecting the old disk-drive, and to reinstall Windows,
and to install an anti-virus software package.
Then, temporarily attach the old disk-drive as a "slave" drive, and copy all your files.
When the copy completes, FORMAT the "slave" disk-drive, to wipe-out ALL the files on that disk.

My pen drive not opening. It asks for the program to open and no program working

It is because of autorun virus.
You can open driver in run.
Press windows key +R so you can see run type in run "f:" where f: is your pen drive letter.
Then press ok then you can access it.
For remove autorun virus.
OPen my computer then right click on drive icon then click on "search" then go to tools->folder option and enable "show hidden file and folder." And disable "hide system files" then apply Then Click on searcxh advanced option then enable all check box then type in file name "autorun.inf" then search then you can see autorun delete that files then remove pen drive and connect again.

Access is denied

Hi
Possible reason is
that your pendrive Contains
An autorun.inf file pointing to a *.exe file(possiblly a virus)

So either you run a scan with good antivirus
or
You can delete the file manually by

> Goto>> Run>>Type the drive letter of your pendrive and follow a full colon(Eg: "C:")
then just enter
now if you cant see the autorun.inf file
you go to folder options to change the view
that is (go to tab view )

1. tick "show hidden files and folders "
2. Untick " Hide operating system files"
Apply it

now you will see the autorun.inf file just delete it

It will solve your problem

I believe that Windows is having an issue with the information in the autorun.inf file.

The entire sequence is initiated when the "disk change notifcation" polling discovers a new disk in the CD or DVD ROM drive. Then, if the "Auto insert notification" feature is enabled (it is by default), Windows checks in the new disk's root directory for the existence of an "autorun.inf" file. If found, Windows then reads and follows the specific instructions this file defines. If no autorun.inf file is found, then Windows refers to the new disk by its serial number and executes the default actions associated with the (data or audio) content on the disk.

My suggestion would be to delete the autorun.inf file as it is not needed.

Autorun file

hi.. well firstly your external hd does not require an autorun.inf file to function. autorun.inf files are used to instruct the computer to perform a certin task on connecting or inserting a a disc. This is used by software vendors to automatically run a setup program (or any app) so it will be user friends. basically you insert the disc and it runs automatically. A virus will use this method on external media like hd's and usb drives or flash drives to automatically execute themselves to infect the host system. There should not be a file as such on your ext hd. Thankfully your antivirus is doing its job :)
