I have a samsung model sgh-a877 and the touch screen isn't working right. How can I do a factory reset?

To reset the handset, to the factory default settings, follow the steps below:
  1. From the standby screen, press Menu
  2. Press Settings
  3. Press Reset Settings
  4. Press on any of the following to check their boxes:
    • All: Sound Profiles, Display & Light, Phone and Alarm settings will be returned to default values
    • Sound Profiles: Only sound profile settings will be returned to default values
    • Display and Light: Only display settings will be returned to default values
    • Phone: Only phone settings will be returned to default values
    • Alarms: Only alarm settings will be returned to default values
  5. Press Reset
  6. Enter the password default password is "0000", then press OK
  7. If prompted, Enter the password again to confirm then press OK
  8. Press Yes to Reset the handset's settings to the factory defaults
One note tho. if i'm not mistaken you will lose ALL data in the phone. if it's been unlocked you will have to unlock it again.
this is refered to as a hard reset. soft reset would be just to take the battery out for a few minutes. that way you would keep your data

    It's not Warning Tones.

The Alarm overides the Profiles. If you don't want an alarm to sound, don't set it. There is no point in setting an alarm if you don't want it to ring. Set the Alarm warning tone! to Vibrate.
