Go to BIOS and change the power settings. You will see some options such as Power On. Default action will be OFF. Change it to ON.

Motherboard Gygabyte GA-7N400 Beeps and Won't Start

It might be worth testing it with another power supply before you throw it. With modern motherboards requiring multiple voltages (and multiple power connections!) it is quite common for a faulty PSU to prevent start-up.

Hope this helps.

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Problem with a gigabyte motherboard ga-8vd 667k rev 1.1,press the power button and tries to start up but only 3 seconds worth, have tested power unit, power switch, hard drive, cpu, cables is there a fuse...

My only suggestion is that you may be drawing too much power:

can you try disconnecting CD-ROM drives, etc, and then powering the computer up again?

is the computer sharing a power strip with a printer or anything else that might draw large amounts of power?

how many watts is the chassis power supply rated for?
