SOURCE: Dometic Americana Freezer/Fridge not cooling

The recall has nothing to do with your fridge not working. Your cooling unit has gone bad. And yes you can get a new fridge for a few hundred more than a new cooling unit. And sooner or later PPL motorhomes will run out of their cheap stock. The fridges they have are out of production. I know I am a Dometic dealer.

SOURCE: dometic rm 2607 makes a gurgling sound when

If your cooling unit is gurgling, then you have air in the system or a bad cooling unit. There is a process known as "burping" that should help repair this. It is a rather lengthy process and will require two people.

1. Access the rear of the refrigerator. Turn off the LP gas to the unit. Remove the LP Gas line and the 12Volt supply. Unplug the fridge.
2. Remove the screws in the rear at the bottom and then remove the screws from the inside.
3. Pull the fridge out and lay it down on it's right side for 8 hours.
4. Flip the fridge on it's top for 8 hours
5. Now the left side, then back to normal.
6. Reinstall the fridge and turn gas back on.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

SOURCE: Camper fridge dont cool

I also had the same Model Make. I removed my fridge and placed it upside down, occasionally shaking fridge within a 24 hr period. This seemed to re-mix the ammonia solution and the fridge is working.
This may work for you but look for yellow stains if you see any your fridge is leaking and would require repair.

SOURCE: Our Dometic RM2193 cools on gas but does not work on electric

It could be as simple as a blown fuse at the fridge. Also check to make sure you have turned on the electric switch that allows the fridge to run on AC. Note, you can only operate the fridge on EITHER gas OR electric, but not both sources at the same time, thus, you have to turn off the gas switch before you can run on electric.

When this unit is running on electricity, it has to have the thermostat set for it to run.

Here's a link to the Dometic manual for your model.

Just follow the steps for running on electric and you should be OK.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: dometic rm2652 frige just stopped working, gas nor

Check 12V supply and fuses on lower board. If display functions okay, then look for yellow residue on back of refrigerator near burner. If yes, then cooling unit has leaked and needs to be replaced. See if recall kit has been installed, and check for 12V at both sides of limit switch. If no power on either side, then thermal link has blown, and need to be replaced, If 12V on one side, but not the other, than limit is tripped, and needs to be reset, by pushing button, or if not resetting, then replace, Check for obstructions to the bottom and top vent to make sure they are not blocked, On models with top side vent, check cooling fan for proper operation.

Dometic RM 4224 won't cool on gas or electric. The stack in the back gets super hot, the fridge is not cool at all.

First ensure that the fridge is level. If the fridge is level and still not cooling while there is heat on the rear of the fridge, then you will require a replacement cooling unit. Give Arcticold a call 1-888-782-6665 Web site: ArctiCold Refrigeration We keep it cold

The fridge gurgles and won't cool in a/c or gas.

If the fridge is "gurgling" then there is one of two problems. Either you have a bad thermistor, which is not allowing the fridge to cool down properly, or your cooling unit is becoming plugged. If you run the unit on gas and get no check light, remove the outer cover and place your hand on the cooling unit, if it is just too hot to keep your hand on, then move your hand up the back. Feel the unit to see if there is a spot where the cooling unit begins to cool off. If so, that is where your blockage is.

There is also the possibility of air bubbles in the system. There is a procedure known as "burping" the unit but it is quite extensive and time consuming.
1. Remove the fridge from the unit, paying attention to electrical connectors and being sure to shut off the gas line and remove it from the fridge.
2. Pull the fridge onto the floor in the unit (providing there is room) and lay it on it's right side. Let it set for 8 hours and then turn it on its top for 8 hours and the its left side for 8 finally standing it back up.
This procedure will burp the air bubbles out of the unit and allow it to work correctly.

Hope this helps,

Jeff
