click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you should see a yellow question mark?
right click to reinstall drivers
if you can see your usb drive but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts also
scroll to disk drives if you can see your drive + to expand right click you should see options update driver disable uninstall scan for hardware changes
select properties you should see options in the general tab to troubleshoot policies volumes driver and details under the driver tab you will have the options to check the driver details update driver rollback driver or uninstall
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
hope this helps

MY USB DID NOT DETECT>> HOW TO SOLVE IT?

let me be very clear.....one of the worst development of the PC system has been this USB connection..... specially for data storage devices....(pen drive, mp3 player, zip drive, Ext HD drive etc)...you cant guess when & why they fail all of a sudden.....

the USB is quite OK when it comes to printer, camera, mobile phone, ext dvd/DC drive etc.....

for data storage...I as a 25+ yr IT / PC professional still use the age old CD / DVD disks....they dont fail too often....

the only option for now is to try the flashdrive on to another 2nd PC....and a 3rd one if required....

if the drive wont work on any of the PCs then i am afraid you need to contact a PC system engineer and try and get that fixed....

hope this helps

0 byte 8 gig kingston

for usb drive with capacity above 4 GB , the most common problem is lost partition, for geeting the patition again you should create it manually with partition tools software like, acronis , magic partition or etc, that support to read usb partition. you could find it all within hiren's boot cd if you had one.

The computer does not accept the Kingston usb!

Kingston is a decent brand device. Does the port recognize the device and is just unable to install drivers? Does the USB port work for other devices? Have you tried other ports? Go to device manager (start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager). Are there any rec X's? Any yellow asterisks? Fix whatever you find. These are just some hints that I hope will help you find your problem. I assume your device is a jump drive. You might try another also... perhaps yours is faulty.

Defective USB driver.

from where are you seeing the USB storage device? have you change slots where you put your usb?

If it still does not show any files, try to isolate if plugging to another computer, the files are there.

or, you can just right click the driver and format it if you no longer need those files inside the USB.

System freeze

The issue was resolved by uninstalling SP3. I uninstalled SP3 and the USB PCI card and rebooted. When SP2 reinstalled the device it installed the corect driver (5.1.2600.2180) and everything is now functional. Have no idea why the correct driver was not in XP SP3.

Hi khurramrkt,

From the link below, locate your Data Traveler and download a new copy of the security software for it. Use the new copy to access the private zone which is probably where the missing 2GB is at.

Unable to find Mass Storage Controller Driver

The mass storage controller is generally for usb devices that you've plugged in. USB keys, memory cards etc.

This kinda falls under the realm of the USB drivers for your mainboard... which if they're working, you don't need to do anything. XP service pack 2 supports USB2 just fine, but service pack 1 will require you to get your manufacturers drivers to get USB2 working at full-speed.

Why do you want to change the default driver anyway??
