The crate is designed to sort songs separately from the library to simplify your song selection through out the gig. If you pay attention you will notice the songs appear in the order you added them to the crate. This allows you to organize in advance what you want to play and when you play them or what order you want to play them in, but when you add a crated song to the A or B source it is removed from the crate. To retrieve them.. return to the library and resend them to the crate.
Some things you have to do yourself... It only takes some work to get it right.
For using ipods or harddrives/USB sticks with the IDj2, your best off with creating Numark libraries. This makes the IDj2 quicker when searching/loading tracks.
This can be done on your Mac or PC with librarian 1.50/IDJ2 1.09(a)firmware combination. If you havent updated your IDJ2 yet, do so. It's the most recent verion, and fixes most problems... Files can be found on www.numark.com/idj2. Look around in this page. There is also explained how to update with a FAT formatted USB stick.
If you have created a library before, Itunes won't update this library, cause it's made by Numark. Itunes and Numark use both a different database. If you run Librarian, it will still see the Ipod playlists, and add them accordingly in your Numark database, and can be recalled in the IDJ2. If you have created libraries with Librarian 1.33 or on the IDJ2 with firmware before 1.09. You have to remove the whole libary, and recreate one with Librarian 1.50. Mostly there is a directory on the device called " .library ". You can throw this away, and recreate a new library.
if you have a PC, you're better of preparing a library for your
USB/IPOD devices with Librarian 1.50, but only if you are running
1.09(a) firmware on the IDJ2. This is the preferred and quicker way...
Do an upgrade if this is not done yet. Go to
for downloading the files.
When rerunning the librarian(for instance when adding tracks), choose
normal mode. It will add every playable track. (you could try this out
on an USB stick with some tracks on it for testing purposes).
If this doesn't work, you could have a corrupt library, and have to
rebuild(choose advanced in Librarian). Also, when you have created with
earlier versions of IDJ2 firmware, then you have to rebuild the whole
Numark stated on their forums, when connecting a device, to never
choose update, but load instead. It can use mp3/wav/non secured aac
files, but not wma..
If there are any other questions, you can also send an e-mail to numark. They are reasonably quick with their responses.
