Yepp, You can do all of that.
Follow the link bellow to the Apple site and read the manual for your Ipod.

You will see that you need a program to tranfer/delete files to you Ipod, you will be guidet where to download the program and how to use it by reading the manual abowe.

You can burn whatever you want on a disc by using a burning program. There are a lot of free program for doing that but i sugest you use Nero. You can download it from

It sounds like the ipod that you bought was either stolen or the unit was returned to a store after it was set up and linked to someone else's account. You can reset the unit with iTunes. If you bought it from a store, try that. If you bought it from someone, you should see if it was stolen.

Compatability with 4th gen nano

I have had exactly the same problem having bought a JBL Radial Micro for my partner for Xmas for use with the Ipod Nano, i contacted JBL via their website and was advised to contact Harmen on 01707278100. I was advised that the new ipod nano (chromatic) would not charge on the JBL radial micro. They stated that this was due to Apple changing the charging pin in the new nano. I have since bought a JBL Stage III. I contacted Harmen before buying this and was advised that the Stage II would not work. Hope that this is of use.

Press and hold the center button while holding down the menu button. This will reboot your Ipod. Check your IPod cable to see if its shorted. If might have transferred a song and crash in the middle of the transfer.

IPOD Nano 8mb 2nd gen

Unfortunately, unplugging it during a restore or transfer is the one sure way to kill an Mp3 player. Before I became an expert, I too killed my first Mp3 player by unplugging during a firmware upgrade. Call Apple and see if you are under warranty, because that is definitely covered.

In theory you could reload the firmware on the device, but it just won't work, because you can't force the PC to recognize it at this point.

Last ditch effort - reset three times, and then plug it into computer while holding in the right part of the wheel. No promises.
