2. Open Control Panel
3, Click Add or remove user accounts.
4. Click the account you wish to change.
5. Click Change the password or Change the account name

On laptop systems you would not use the jumper to reset a bios password. To reset the bios password you will need to contact Dell Support. They will verify ownership of the system and then provide you with information on resetting the bios password.

Dell latitude 820 administrator password

Hi,if you have another administrator account goto start> type cmd>
type"net user administrator (your new password here)">enter
if you dont have other account try to search internet some software can delete password from startup screen but you must write it on a DVD and make sure your first or primary boot device is your dvd writer, then follow the instructions

I can get into the bios but cant change anything because i dont remember the Admin password. This is a Dell Latitude 531 How do i get the password?

Contact Dell tech support 800-624-9896 (USA) confirm you are an authorized user of the system and they will assist with generating a master password, There is no universal password or jumper to manually reset it, you have to contact Dell.

Take it to a service shop and ask them to open the unit and the display. The cable connector to the display is loose on one side.

Dell latitude d820 can't get intothe bios set up screen

The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine.

The administrative password is different in the bios settings

You can reset the password easily by removing the battery which will clear the CMOS. If you aren't comfortable doing this, perhaps you can find someone who will do it for you. It's not hard to do, and you won't hurt anything as long as you unplug the computer and discharge any static from your body. (Just touch something metal - like the rails on your desk or something else.)

If you have forgotten the Windows password:

A forgotten windows password can be problematic.

If you have windows XP HOME edition, boot to the SAFE MODE (Press F8 during boot to get startupmenu) select the ADMIN account (Password should be blank) Once inwindows, go to Control Panel, User Accounts and reset the password onthe effected account.

If you cannot perform the above, then this link has the best listing of recovery suggestions I've found:

If you need to change a forgotten BIOS password, you will need to contact Dell Technical Support for a BIOS Master Password.

For recovering Windows login Passwords in safety, I tend to recommend software Windows Password Seeker. Not just support XP/Vista/2000/NT, but also compatible with windows 7, it works perfectly to remove Windows login Passwords. I wrote it to a USB flash drive.
