My friend has a computer and his desktop is not showing up on his computer. He can only access application through the task manager and selecting run. We have tried using msconfig to fix it. We have tried all three start up options and tried enabling and disabling everything but can't get it to work. The task bar and the start menu are not showing either.

Scenario: Recovery manager or Application Recovery on your HP Desktop PC doesn't work or you are unable to access Application Recovery or Recovery manager.
Tip: For Application Recovery: 1. Click start, my computer. 2. Open C: and Windows Folder. 3. Open SMINST folder within Windows folder. 4. Double click appinst.exe to open application recovery.
For Recovery Manager: 1. Click start, my computer.
2. Open C: and Windows Folder.
3. Open SMINST folder within Windows folder.
4. Double click restore7.exe to open Recovery Manager.
If above folder is not found. Then, 1. Click start, run. Clear contents of run box. 2. In run box, type "D:\hp\apps" without quotes and hit ok. 3. This will open a folder that would show couple of folders. These are the applications shipped with your PC. You can identify the software you need. In that folder, open SRC folder. You will find setup for the application here. Install the application from here.

To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5 to 5.0, perform the following steps:
Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Select About Desktop Manager.
Click the Device Software tab.
Verify that the BlackBerry Device Software displayed is the latest version currently available from the wireless service provider
Warning: The following procedure will delete either all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the BlackBerry smartphone data before proceeding.
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Double-click Application Loader.
Click Next to start the installation process.
Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.
Select the check boxes next to the names of the applications to be loaded, and then click Next.
Click Settings, and then select the check boxes beside Delete all application data and Erase all currently installed applications.
Clear the check box next to Backup up device data automatically during the installation process.
Click Ok > Next > Finish.
When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Close to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.1 to 4.3, complete the steps 1-5 above and then proceed with the following:
Click Advanced , and then select the check boxes beside Erase all application data and Erase all currently installed applications
Select the check box next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process (if prompted).
Clear the check box next to Backup and restore applications installed wirelessly (if prompted).
Click Next > Finish.
The BlackBerry smartphone will not show a Connected state in the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager. Proceed to open and run the application loader tool.
If BlackBerry Desktop Manager cannot connect to the BlackBerry smartphone, perform the following steps:
Remove the battery and run loader.exe from C:\Program files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.
Remember to reinsert the battery after the loading operations begin.
you mean desktop is nor accessible.......press cntrl-alt-del. task manager will appear clk on application. clk on new task. type in c:\ and press ok.....it will open windows explorer and also shows the desktop icons and taskbar....good luck and do reply me...
