There is a little micro switch that goes under the trackball it looks like a small square
what it is is a tiny ring taped to the motherboard of the device it's has a cone shape and this is what gives it a feeling of a click when you press onto the trackball
after long life or/and excessive force clicking the little cone brakes, flattens or falls off the mobo
so if you have a spear device for parts carefully remove the square and replace the busted one
i was looking if they sell those switches anywhere on line but its a lot more profitable to sell new bb's :)
hope this helps

Blackberry 8300 trackball click button broken it scrolls not click

You either supressed the button under the ball in, and its going to need to be sent in for repair.
Or
Try this:
Rubbing alcohol and a cutip and rub it all over your trackball, if there is some dust that may have got caught under the button, hopefully the rubbing alcohol cleans this and releases the button.
Try it out let me know, Cheers,

the adhesive sticker may not be there anymore so it would be best to take the phone to a mobile tech and have it fixed.

My 8320 doesn't want to respond

Usually the button membrane under the track ball goes bad. If you're out of warranty try to remove the trackball and push the membrane back in place if it became misaligned, clean it if necessary. There is a Blackberry Repair Guide that shows how to open a Blackberry and remove the track ball yourself. Once it is open it's as easy as peeling the membrane off the logic board, scratching its bottom with a flathead screwdriver. There are also third party blackberry repair services that will do this for you or supply you with a membrane if you need a new one.

Trackball "select" not working

Hi - I had the same problem as this and tried to solve it by taking out the trackball and cleaning it as detailed in other posts. However this did not work.

I got it working eventually by carefully lifting the small square orange plactic cover which the trackball sits over and presses down on to select. By cleaning under that I got it to work. You need to be careful as this cover also holds some connectors in place.

The moral of the story is to keep the curve in its holster in your pocket (I lost my holster which is when the trouble started).

Have fun

Difficulty selecting with my trackball

If its that new, take it back. If you said that it was older, it would most likely be that there is dirt below the trackball. you can easily pop it out to clean under it, but if its new why even bother.

Trackball on Blackberry Curve not working properly

I found that removing the track ball and cleaning the contact and track ball with a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, it worked a 100 percent better when I returned the ball to the handset. DO NOT SATURATE THE BALL OR THE HANDSET WITH THE ALCOHOL!! ONLY USE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT!!!!
