If you can access the "guts" of the device. Try and see if there is an electrical malfunction such as frayed wire or moisture on the circuits. It sounds like an electrical short is causing the bulb to work harder that it needs to causing its life to be drastically shortened. If its an investment, I would go ahead and set up service for the device (or if you have the capabilities and know-how to repair it yourself it might be easier). Remember though any attempt to repair an item yourself might void the warranty.

I did a little research and found that all products from the manufacturer are under lifetime warranty as long as they are owned by the original owner. Go ahead and send it in for an easy hastel free repair.

I am not sure if you are in the us again but I have here two different numbers to set up service

Must I replace its 100 watt Sylvania incandescent bulb with another incandescent? What about an equivalent CFL or LED bulb?

Both will work fine as long as the light isn't on a dimmer. You can't dim CFL bulbs.

If you do have a dimmer, you can dim LED bulbs as long is you buy dimmable LED bulbs.

Is there a reason not to use LED lights in my Casablanca metropolitan fans with intellitouch controls fans

I think the fan should be fine. If the fan is set to have a dimming option and the bulbs you use are dimming bulbs, I don't see the problem. They may be from different manufacturers but they should cause damage to each other. LEDS shouldn't be a problem.

If the legrand dimmer 400w - pro21 can function with led dimmable light "philips master led spot "

The answer is NO. You need a Trailing Edge dimmer to control LEDs.

The Phillips master LED spot manual says
:
Lighting controls: bulbs are dimmable 20-100% with ""select"" Trailing Edge RC devices
http://www.prismaecat.lighting.philips.com/FredhopperPDFWebServiceInter/docts/1d8ea75f-e889-424d-92dc-450fbeb85f6a/Smart_LED_Spot_da.pdf

The Legrand pro21 manual does not say anything about being a Trailing edge dimmer.
http://www.legrand.com.gr/gr/gr/liblocal/internet_greece/PDFS/NOTICES/IOBL/ROOSTATES/775637EN.pdf

Legrand diagrams show what appears to be incandescent bulbs, and say nothing about LEDs

LEDs cannot be dimmed as ordinary incandescent (tungsten) bulb.
