Serial nos of mother board is located in near the ram slot.
Check the ON button if your pc not ON. check where the jack pin of power button is inserted in motherboard pull it out and short that both pin using wire(touch ones), if again computer not ON then check your SMPS power supply, if again PC not ON then it means your motherboard need repairs no matter the light is ON or NOT. if u get power light then wire formula will work. with no ram you will get beeps that confirms your processor is working (as it cant detect ram) you could be using the wrong speed or type, also as Ghoaliass stated, if your using a couple of modules try one at a time, if it fails on the first, remove the stick and try anther one and so on until you at lease get a bios screen :)
