Question about Hitachi 60SDX88B 60" Rear Projection Television
TV was on, changed the channel, picture went out,changed the chanel back and the sound went out. Light comes on when power button pushed, sounds like it's on but have nothing on screen.
I know this set pretty well, in fact I think I have the service manual on disc---have about 200 of these sets on disc. I can make some suggestions if you have some mechanical skill etc, I never know how much a person has who posts a question here.
I suspect this set might have a common problem---I would have to dig the disc out to be sure----some of these have a small blue High voltage cap that pops (you might not hear it go) and with it goes a pico fuse---its 2 amp and it will among some other things kill the set except for the power light.
If you have a working remote also call up Menu to see if on screen menu is working, if it shows the cap mentioned is good.
Also you can try one of the rear inputs with a vcr or DVD to see if picture that way.
Let me know if I can help.

Good Day, you all;
The front panel light on Hitachi TV does not really tell you much. To see what the TV is doing or better said NOT doing is remove back from the set.
If you are not a technical type person, it would be better to consult an authorized service center, but if you are perform this; 1. Remove back
2. Observe led and notice which once light, there are as many as 9 LED's.
Now that will tell you what area of the TV's circuits are to be concerned about.
Let me know, Good Luck, big IRISH.

SOURCE: no picture or sound
You have a problem with the high voltage section that drive the projectors. Look in the back to see if the three projectors are lit. Then we go from there.

The TV computer may have detected an error. See if the problem persist after unplugging the device overnight to reset it. If it does not, the issue may be with the board or its power supply circuit. Probably loose soldering or leaking capacitors.
