Thank you very much! I've followed your advise. If before I didn't get any signal at one channel, after I got a simple noice at that channel. In other words one channel is playing the music but the other is getting only a noise. It seems there is something more than a simple cleaning of the switches. I think that I have only two choices one to try to sell it "as is" or to put in the garbage. However, I cannot afford to pay at least $100 for repair even in the case that I can find a reliable technician.

Our Bogen BR320 had the same problem. I tracked it down to intermittent operation of the front panel Local and Remote Speaker pushbutton switches. It took time to disassemble and clean the switches, but now it works great.

SOURCE: Low volume on left channel of Sony STR-GX4ES

The headphone is tapped before the final stage of the amp, so knowing that those work properly helps to isolate the problem. I think that this model uses an IC for the voltage amp section prior to the final amp stage. That being said, the IC is probably an UPC2598 (if memory serves). I'll confirm tonight. Try resoldering any connections that appear to be grainy or have rings. Let me know what you find.

Sounds like a power supply issue, maybe the transformer when bad, it may need replacing.

SOURCE: I have a Fisher RS-717 stereo receiver, amplifier.

Yes you can use either A or B without a problem. The restriction is when you have both A & B connected. In that case, the speakers MUST be a minimum of 8 Ohm impedence. Using either A or B, you can use speakers of 4 Ohms impedence.

Very week sound

Definitely need more info - such as type of amplifier or receiver, how many speakers you are running, whether the subwoofer is powered or not.
As a simple test procedure: Disconnect all speakers and plug in a pair of headphones. Get a strong audio signal? Good, move on. No signal or week signal, you have an amplifier issue before the audio even gets to the speakers.
Next: Disconnect all speakers, turn the volume down, and connect one speaker to the left output channel. Slowly increase the volume. If that works, do the same on the right channel. Everything OK? You're putting out enough gain on both channels. Sometimes one channel goes bad. You can still listen to your sound in mono moder, or drive two speakers from the single working output. Not stereo, but dual mono. Move on.
Connect left and right speakers but not the subwoofer. Repeat the test. Whatever is left is probably the problem. If the subwoofer is powered, check the power supply or incoming voltage. If the other speakers are driven off the subwoofer or powered from there, that's likely the problem.

I only have two speakers. Which speaker outs do I use to receive true stereo

the ones marked with L and R from left and right. and if it says front, use the, because the back and middle channels won't give enough power.

Why is my centre speaker not working on my stereo setting on phono?

Records are binaural only. There are only two channels of information, left and right. There is no signal available for a center channel.

MY BOGEN RECEIVER MODEL BR 360 WORKS ONLY ON ONE CHANNEL. THE SPEAKER CONNECTED TO THE OTHER CHANNEL DOES NOT GET ANY SIGNAL.

You could have the same problem we had on our BR-320. We found that the front panel Local and Remote Speaker switches were intermittent. When jiggling the switch, one or both channels would drop out and come back. After cleaning it works great.

Is it possible to connect two jacks simulteanously to a speaker like S115 or SW118 coming from 2 different channels of a power amplifier like P5000S' please advise thanks

the s115 and p5000s are power matched for a single channel.
IE - the s115 is rated at 500W and the p5000s is 500W PER CHANNEL.
If you're trying to drive a left/right signal into a single speaker, you need to mix the left right signals together at the input side, and put the mix into a single channel of the amp, and then into the speaker from that one channel.

The other option is to have 2 s115's - one on each channel.

I have a VR 615 receiver. All 6 surround sound

It all depends on the processing the receiver is doing when recreating the sound. Change the surround mode to Dolby Digital or THX if it's on there. When it is receiving a Left/Right signal only, it does some processing but pretty much spits it out of all the speakers, fronts being the loudest. That's why you always hear them. When it is getting a Digital signal, the receiver does a much better job of processing the audio to the correct speaker, but unless there is a lot of background noise, there might not be any signal going to the speaker.
Also, check to make sure that the "size" of the speaker on the rear channels is set correctly. There is a setting on most receivers to tell the receiver how big the speaker is on that channel. This sets the power level on the output to accomodate the size of the speaker.

I have distortion coming out of my front right channel of my AVR

Yes, sounds like your DSP chip has an issue. Not an inexpensive repair if that's the culpret. Around 400-500 to replace the chip. It's an awesome receiver and worth 300-400 in repair, however, a 3800 or 1800 can be had for 600-800 depending where you look. If you need more help, post a comment and I can help you some more.

Need repair for older Bogen receiver

Any stereo repair shop should be able to repair your amp, as Bogen uses standard parts. I might mention that you may also want to repair you own amp. I would suggest you get a can of WD-40 oil or a tuner cleaner and spray it on the switch you feel is bad. See if this corrects the problem.

Left Speakers not working on A or B channel

Have you tryed yet to switch the right speaker where the left one is? If it works then you know the speaker is bad. If you move the left speaker over to the right channel and it works and sound now comes out of the left speaker, you know there is a fault in the amp somehwre. If your not a tech and have not had any solid state equipment repair experience, then your going to have to have the amp serviced by a trained tech.. Good Luck
