In this case i think you need to restore it from a pre-made cd/DVD or image supplied with the laptop or created from laptop.

SOURCE: acer problem

You will need to see if ACER has the software in question for Vista. You can find this on acer.com in support > drivers

SOURCE: factory restore

if you can load into your current installation search for a program on your c:\ called D2D.exe it should be located within c:\Acer\ this will start a program if you click the top option it restores the factory settings.

SOURCE: acer aspire 6920 back to factory settings

Acer sent me these instructions.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

You may be able to hold F2 as you power up to open up the "setup" screen. There should be an option to restore to factory defaults on that screen.

To use this feature put the original windows disk into your pc/laptop and reboot. As soon as the reboot starts starts pressing F12. Choose the menu option that allows you to boot from a CD. VISTA will start and in the next few screens allow you to install to the original factory conditions.

Went to nvidia website to check on driver update and they want u to download their driver scanner witch i did, then it shows just about all drivers in laptop outdated and want u to purchase scanner

Instead of using the driver scanner you should go to the manual driver search which is right before that. From there you can manually find your driver and it will not ask you to purchase anything.
Another option is to go to the Acer website and get your drivers from there. You will just have to enter the model of your system. On Acer's support site you can download all the drivers for your system.

I would recommend getting another System disk from your manufacturer as the one that you have may be outdated as to why those essential programs have been left out of the installation process.

Unable to reinstall DVD backups after HP SYSTEM RECOVERY failed

Code "purple" means you and your computer are done. It is an unrecoverable error that means you need a new system. However, I have found a couple of postings that claim to know a fix. I can not verify these methods, I do not own a HP or other type of prefab PC (custom is the only way to go). Anyway, here are the links, good luck.
