My HP dv9308nr laptop has no display. When I press the power button powers on and I hear the fan and hard drive. I replaced the LCD display inverter and the motherboard. And still nothing. I connected to an external monitor and I get display for a few minutes then it goes off.

    What is boz of monitor???

  • johnny0110 Mar 30, 2009

I have a Gateway 4530GZ and the LCD panel is fine for a while and then it goes black. If I touch the little pin at the top right corner that controls the screen going on and off when you close the lid, it pops back on for a few seconds and then it goes off again. I dont think it has anything to do with a bad connection because it will do it if I leave it setting without touching it at all. I had a tech look at it and could not find anything wrong with it. Any ideas???? THANKS !!!

I am reposting this question with more detail in hopes that someone can help me! I have Lenovo Y550 that has been sitting for several months without being used. It was working fine the last time it was...

You may need to remove all the power from the device including the CMOS Battery. As well try using an external display to see if there is any display.

Cannot turn on my laptop only the start button light turns on but no screen display and a few noises help

This is only the first of many things you may need to do to determine the fault. But it is a process for determining the exact cause.

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to complete a 'power reset' of the notebook.

  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
  2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
  3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
  4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
  5. Normally power on the notebook.
  6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
  7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

No boot No fan noise no display but lights come on

Somethings has happened to your motherboard, CPU and/or hard drive somewhere along the line if it wont power up when you hit the power button and this would explain the reason for no activity. When a motherboard fails, no activity will happen at all, so Im putting my money on your motherboard being defect so take it in for a service and you may have to buy a new laptop since repairs can be costly.
