Click on the link below to download the user guide. Once done so please open it and go to page 11. Once on page 11 you should see a diagram on the bottom half of the page. On that diagram please locate the word "GOOD." Most VCR devices use this connection with a Yellow, Red, and White.

  • If this is not the cable you are using please reference to the Component Cable which is labeled as "BETTER."
  • If using coxial (thick black cable that screws in) please screw in to the back of the TV and select the channel that your VCR is set to. (Note: You may have to change your turner mode to Antenna. Please referance page 24 of the user guide to chage that option.)
As seen in the diagram please make sure that the yellow cable is connected to the Y/V (Green port / First of the five starting from the left) connection at the back of the TV. As for the Red and White cable please insert them to the Red and White connection. (Last two starting from the left / White label as "L" and Red label as "R")
  • For Component cables please connect them to their corresponding colors or labels from the VCR to the TV.
Once you have all cables connected to the TV please make sure your TV is turned on and select "Input" on the top left of your remote. On the TV you should see a list label as "Input Source Selection" or something similar. (Please reference page 16 of the user guide) Using your up or down button on the remote please select the option Comp/AV (If it only has AV and no Comp please select AV and vice versa) and press OK.

You should now be able to view your VCR.

How to hook up vcr and tv using digital adapter

You can hook up the VCR directly to the TV; you don't need to hook up the VCR to the adapter. If you already had the VCR hooked up to the TV, you don't need to change those connections.

I have purchased Samsung 550 - series L5 - I don't seem to be able to hook up the VCR to it to record. I have cable on it and I would like to be enable to record programs. Television ask if I want to...

You don't record from TV, you record from cable so cable needs to be hooked up to input on VCR.
If you don't use cable box you would hook cable to VCR then out of VCR to TV. If you use cable box then you need to connect Video and Audio outputs on cable box to Video and Audio inputs on VCR and switch input of VCR to Line input.

I have Dish network. I want to record TV onto the VCR, but cannot get channels to record. i can playback videotapes and the record works, but cannot figure out how to get the signal to record.

The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR.
The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV.
The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.

It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input.
& VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.

Hook up vcr

Unhook the dvd cables from the AV1 ports on the tv. Then hook these DVD outputs to the inputs on the vcr. Then hook the vcr outputs to the tv inputs (AV1). The tv and the vcr must then be set to channel 3 in order to watch the dvd (and possibly also some menu settings such as setting everything to "component video" and/or setting the tv/vcr button to "vcr. Also set all "3 or 4" switches on the back of all equipment to channel 3. Also, don't forget to go into your tv menu and choose AV1 when you want to watch the dvd and/or the vcr.
You can also try connecting your dish to the vcr and then the vcr to the input on the tv where you HAD the dish connected. There are several combinations you can try, but just remember to always put output cables to the INPUTS of the next piece of equipment in line, and set your menu settings appropriately on all equipment whenever you change from one machine to the next.
If all this fails, then here is a 100% positive solution. Buy an "A/B" switch. It has two inputs and only one output. You could leave the dvd connected as is and connect the dish and the vcr to the two inputs on the A/B switch. Then hook the one output of the A/B switch to the tv. When you change the position of the A/B switch back and forth, you will be changing over back and forth from dvd to vcr. You can move the A/B input selection switch manually or you can buy a remote controlled A/B switch and do your switching with the remote that comes with the switch.

Rca vcr

there a a bunch of different ways. 1) if you don't have a cable box hooked up to this tv,plug the main cable wire into the vcr input then the vcr outout to the tv.2) if you do have a cable box, plug the main cable into the cable box input, then the output to the vcr input, then the vcr output to the tv. put both the tv & vcr on channel 3 for this connection. [ you must have the vcr on channel 3 to record from the cable box!] 3) if you have aux line/video or source inputs on the back of your tv,you can hook up rca cables [ red, white,& yellow ] from the rca outputs on the vcr to the tv inputs.
hope this helps
