SOURCE: printhead carriage jam

It all depends on who made the product. There are often times simple solutions but they need to be found by searching on the web and talking to service people about the unit. Some print head motors were known to fail or develop bearing noise over time in the HP line. Many of these things are really not prone to be fixed as the repair cost is sometimes the same as a new unit.
I would contact the warranty center- even if out of warranty and see if you could talk to a technician to start.

Empty carriage stuck in my HP 7500A printer

Hello,Lester Makang
Your carriage got stuck in service station,is there any noise coming from the right side of printer then there will be broken gear.
Power on your printer, after you got carriage jam error open cartridge access door and wait 5 second when you see that gears trying to move, use your hand to pull your carriage to left side.Don't use much force. If your carriage got free then install your print head and cartridges. If this will happen again then take it to service center they will change the service station or broken gear but the cost goes much high.

My problem is after claibration i receive a message POWER OFF AND CHECK PRINTHEAD CLEANER PATH

Something is blocking the printhead cleaner assembly from moving forward and backward.
Turn the plotter off, open the printhead cleaner access cover (RH side) and see if you can move the cleaners to the front of the machine.
If you can move them fairly easily, then try (with the plotter still off) to move the carriage assembly (holds the printheads) to the left of the machine.
Check the condition of the carriage belt for frayed areas or missing belt teeth.
(I suspect a worn out carriage belt is causing the problem)
With the cleaner assembly to the front, and the carriage to the left, turn the plotter back on and see if the error continues.

REPLACING HP PRINTER, PRINTHEADS

Follow these steps to replace the printheads in your printer.

  2. Open the top cover.
  3. Press and hold the Resume button (c01219285.bmp ) until the carriage moves to the left. CAUTION: Be careful not to proceed until the carriage is on the left side of the printer. Hello, My Canon MP830 suddenly shut off when I told it to print a sheet. It will not turn on, and the print head is stuck to the right, and I can't move it. I left it unplugged for several days, but still...

When the carriage is stuck on the right there's not much you can do, When the printhead goes bad it keeps your printer from powering up. You need to either remove the printhead, or unplug the light color ribbon cables from the circuit board on the right side of the machine inorder to power up, and then change the printhead. Error code

I think you've got something stuck inside the paper feed section. This could be any where from where you feed the paper in all the way to the paper exiting the printer. Something might be stuck there. Or your printhead carriage is stuck or not moving properly. Try this:
1. Turn on your printer and let the cartridges center in the middle.
2. Remove the cartridges and the printhead.
3. Check the insides to see if anything is stuck, or any left over pcs of paper.
4. If there is none, unplug the power cord. The carriage should move easily. If it does then put everything back. If it doesn't you'll have to find out what is getting it stuck. Always be gentle w/ your printer.
5. Put everything back and try it again. This procedure is not guaranteed. It just works most of the time but not all of the time.

Let me know if this helps. If it doesn't I'll see what i can do.

Okidata 320/420 printhead not printing aligned.

Clean the large silver rod that runs through the carriage. It is dirty and not allowing the carriage to move as freely as it should. Ideally it should be left dry. Also change the ribbon. The same motor drives the carriage and the ribbon. If it has a bind, the same thing can happen. Hope it helps Ed
