The LCD screen may be bad, there is a video cable cord from the motherboard to the screen "may have come loose" But first hook a external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop to see if clears up, if yes! then it is the laptop issue, if no! both LCD screens show the same problem, it is The Video Graphics Card that is part of the motherboard.

SOURCE: On my laptop display screen,
1.your video card driver must have crashed try re-installing it !!
2.your video card must have failed !!try connecting your laptop to a CRT or LCD monitor and check it out !!! if you get grained lines in your CRT then its your video card change it!!

More than likely the screen. The inverter normally causes things on the desktop to be barely visible. The whole screen looks black, but with a flashlight you can see the images are there when the inverter is bad.

Some settings have got changed. Look for any jammed buttons on the remote control. Try removing the battery from the remote and try from control of the TV. Try resetting to factory default.
