Question about LG WT5070CW 4.7 Cu. Ft. Ultra Large Capacity High Efficiency Top Load

1 Answer

Washer does not add enough hot water

I have a lg wt5070cw washer. It's a week old. I've had service out to look at two problems. The first is a loud knocking during the spin (only when the water pump is off). The second problem is it doesn't put enough hot water in for warm or hot washes. The tech ordered a new suspension for the 1st problem (even though he never heard it). The 2nd prob he said wasn't a prob. That these washers don't act like normal washers. The water isn't supposed to be that hot. The washer has a built in heater and I'm only getting 70 degrees on both the hot and warm cycles. The Wash cycle starts at that temp, and it's not any warmer when the wash cycle is over. Is this normal? The tech said I would have an error code if it wasn't getting to the temp it needed.

Ok, so for an update on this. I understand that the water temp may not need to be as high on an HE washer compared to a traditional washer. I think there are multiple things going on here, though. When I was testing the temp, before, I was pausing it to open the lid. Once I open the lid, only cold water fills after that. Also, the washer doesn't initially put enough water in (I know, HE, but wait). Here's and example. If run a small to medium load on "bright whites", the water will fill to about 3-6 inches below the top of the clothes. There is not enough water to agitate and clean. For a front load I understand the HE, and how the clothes are cleaned. This is a top load. If I open the lid, once it's done filling, the water temp is 120 degrees. The water level is anywhere from 12-20 inches below the top of the drum and 3-6 inches below the top of the clothes. Once I close the lid, the washer fills up, with cold water, to the top of the drum. I think this is why I was getting the low wash temps in my initial test. So, why is it not putting enough water in to start, and why does it fill the rest of the way with cold?

He is right, we can thank the energy mandate for than. In all new washers they are only required to reach 69 degree. All detergent are now activated at 62 degree no matter what. Some washers do get hotter but not lg

SOURCE: 1 1/2 year old lg WM2496H showed oe error code

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

SOURCE: "UE" error code LG washer wm0642hw

This is an Imbalance code. Your issue may be with:

  • The load is too small
  • The appliance is tilted
  • Laundry is gathered to one side
  • Non-distributed things are put into the drum
Try adjusting the load size, and make sure the unit is level.

SOURCE: LG washer won't move from the rinse cycle. Spins

If you have correctly selected rince and it doesnt rince, that part of the program is corrupt. Strangely enough, in S.Africa 90% of the washers with rince problems are the lg. Seen quite a few top loaders with this problem as well. There is no reason at all that once rince is selected it shouldnt work, except if faulty.. Only solution is to replace board if rincing to you is essential.

SOURCE: My LG Tromm washer dryer ( WM3677HW or WD-12270RD)

According to the manual "water is overflowing (water level frequency is over 213). If FE is displayed, the drain pump will operate to drain the water automatically". Since there's nothing between the water inlet valves and the PWB I'd suspect that, but not before putting it into Test Mode to rule out other components and especially checking the water level detector switch

The water level detector switch monitors the water level and feeds this information to the MICOM. The sensor reads air pressure in an air chamber on

the tub. The air pressure changes in relation to the depth of the water, moving a diaphragm in the switch. As the water level fluctuates, it raises or lowers the iron center in the coil, which, in turn, changes the electric resonance of the oscillator circuit of which it is a part. As water level decreases, frequency increases. (e.g. A low water level may read 25.5kHz1 while a high water level may read 21.4 kHz. These readings are approximate; washers in the field may vary slightly from these figures.)

To read the frequency while the COMBO is running, press and hold the SPIN SPEED and SOIL LEVEL buttons. The number on the display should be divided

by 10 to obtain the frequency reading in kHz. A display of 254 would indicate a frequency of 25.4 kHz. The MICOM interprets the frequency reading as one of

eight levels, with one being the lowest water level and any level greater than eight indicating an overflow situation.

Not getting cold water at all, only steaming hot water is coming out

look at the water knob one will say hot one will say cold . on the one that says cold there is two arrows one will say open one will say shut turn the knob closer and closer to the arrow that says open. turn it till you cannot turn it any more . now your washer is most likely to work if not look at creaters glide if still does not work cheak water pipes and coneshoins and if still does not work ask someone at the store and if STILL does not work return to store and buy a new one i hope your washer works.

IE error on wd1484adp

LG's 'IE' stands for '(water) Inlet Error'.

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

For LG's 'PE' stands for '(water) Pressure Error'

Lots of IE messages, water not loading into washer before cycle

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

'IE' for LG washers means 'Inlet (water) Error'.

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs a service call to confirm that it is not something else like the control board which is not controlling the valve ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
