If not the lamp I would suspect the light engine itself.

SOURCE: How do I change Part #267888

Go in through the front of the TV behind the screen. From there you remove the light engine cover which will expose the color wheel. Take out the two screws that hold the color wheel in place and disconnect the two wires. Put the new color wheel in and re-assemble your TV.
It's a very easy job, there's just a lot of screws that hold the screen to the TV so don't lose them. Also there are four clip in wire's that you will need to disconnect from the light engine cover, so make a note of were they go before you unplug them.

If you still have the owners manual there should be an 800 number or some sort of customer support for it. Unless it's really old that is your best bet for the internal pieces

I just finished replacing the color wheel on my samsung dlp tv and now there is a 3 inch wide dark stripe down the left edge of the tv. the stripe is transparent but it looks like something is covering up...

First thing you want to check is the bulb alignment and make sure there is nothing obstructing the light source. Check the foam sheath on the projector lens and I hope you didn't touch the color wheel with your fingers, you coauld be seeing the effects of finger prints.

Is the color wheel fine if it is spinning? Can you see any light from the dlp lamp when the screen is off? I had a service guy come by to fix my dlp and he replaced the bulb with no luck. He said it was...

First You can look on the rear of the set and see the lamp light shine through the lamp door vents when the set is on. Second you need to replace the whole color wheel before the set will work. Third Color wheels may spin but not at the correct rpm and may shut down the tv and sometimes color wheels will emit a high pitched whine or buzzing sound indicating that the bearings in the motor are wearing out. But now that you have to replace the color wheel you will need to adjust the index delay in the service menu. I suggest having a factory trained tech repair the set.

Mitsu 65" DLP-picture seems washed out

Most likely cause of your trouble is dust on the small mirror inside you set. Your DLP set has 2 mirrors not including the DLP chip itself which has about 500,000 tiny mirrors. The 2 mirrors reflect the DLP chip image to the screen you view. The first is the main suspect it's about 4inches by 7inches. It's mounted on the bottom center facing backwards. This mirror faces slightly up and somtimes after time dust, smoke, dirt settles on it . The second fills the space of the entire back of the cabinet but it faces down and takes alot longer to get dirty.
The compartment is sealed but dust seems to find it's way in. If you remove the screws that secure the screen assembly from the top , sides and bottom. Make sure to have a friend available the screen assembly is delicate when it's not mounted to the cabinet. You can remove and clean the mirrors. These mirrors are glass and you can use glass cleaned. Don't use glass cleaner on the screen it's plastic. You can clean it if necessary with plastic cleaner only. Probably not needed.
Good luck.

Color of the picture is faded/green

Hello Jdillon917,

I understand what you are saying, however the devil is in the details in reference to your problem. Let me explain, DLP Televisions use what is called "Color Wheel Technology". A wheel made up of primary and secondary colors spin at a synchronized rate with the Luminance Video signal and this along with the changing of the mirrors of the DLP processor creates the color that you see on the screen (This is a high level description, but it covers what is happening). Now what you are experiencing can happen if the sync between the signal to the color wheel and the DLP processor is off center, if the color wheel is out of alignment, or if the signal to the DLP is drifting. The bulb "light" is working but something happened to interfere with the sync between the color wheel and the DLP processor. I would suggest getting this looked at by a DLP qualified TV technician, because of the nature of this problem. In addition I would request that you have the technician do a certified alignment after the problem is taken care of.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Shuttle83

Dark spots on tv

I have the same TV, and I was getting the black spots on my screen as well. It is dust settling on the bottom mirror. Yoiu can call Mitsubishi and spend 150-200 on getting it cleaned, or you can do like I did and take the front panel off and the 10 screws around the edge on the back of the black plastic border around the screen. Then lift up gently and have someone hold the screen for you and gently dust the bottom mirror. I did this by myself, but it would be wise to have 2 people do it.

InFocus X2 Projector Fault

This error is to do with the light tube - 4 retangular mirror's just after the colour wheel. The dark band is where the bonding for the mirror's is failing, the spring clip holding the assembely inplace pushes the top mirror down slightly causing the dark band as mentioned.

To fix this use a high temp glass glue and very careful clean, reposition the mirror's (in the correct position). Allow to cure fully then re-assemble the unit.

I have only have had to do this twice the 1st time using a sub standard adhesive and dark return a few weeks later. The 2nd I did some reseach and have a quailty glass glue. The X2 has been fine for many years now with no sign of the band re showing.

hope that has helped you.?

ps. if you are rubbish at doing stuff like this - just don't try, it's fiddly and requires a good understand of what you are trying to achieve. A perfect retangular tube with parrallel sides...!!!
