Gas valve will not turn on if the blower is not pushing air thru the combustion camber. There is a sail switch in there that has to be working to complete the circuit back to the gas valve. BE CAREFUL and ck for a bee or wasp nest in the exhaust pipe or back in the combustion camber.

We have a gas unit in our ensuite for a hot water we can not seem to get any hot water the gas cylinders are getting low so i have asked for them to be refilled or could i there.

refill the gas bottles and then if that doesn't fix it, get a technician out as it may be the pressure switch not opening the gas so that the pilot light ignites the burner

Pilot does not light

If you are not getting any ignition, make sure the pilot line is not kinked. The pilot orifice could also be plugged. It can be pulled and cleaned. If you remove the pilot line from the gas valve then set the valve to pilot and press it in; if you have not gas pressure at that point' you have a gas valve issue. Otherwise if you get pressur the the orifice is clogged.

We had to turn the gas off to connect the dryer, now we can't get the pilot light to turn on. we followed the directions on the water heater 5 or 6 times with no luck. It seems the pilot light will not...

I would suggest that you remove pilot assembly from gas valve and burner and clean pilot orifice and see if that helps. Be careful when cleaning hole in the orifice so you don't enlarge the hole. Good luck and thank you.

Pilot l.ight will not stay lit

The pilot light jet may have got a little bit of dirt or grit in it which is preventing it from keeping alight. Try probing the jet with a fine piece of wire to see it the blockage can be dislodged. You may have to unscrew the jet to clear it by blowing air through it. Make sure gas is turned off first before removing any parts.

The pilot light also has a thermocouple that allows gas to the pilot light while the flame is burning. If flame goes out it shuts gas off to the pilot jet. The thermocouple is bypassed by a switch during the initial ignition and once the thermocouple warms up after a minute or two of holding in the bypass switch, it should maintain the pilot. If, after cleaning, the pilot light keeps going out, it would seem that your thermocouple is faulty and needs to be replaced

Wont light

Is there a spark? or do you need a long match? The button usually just opens the pilot so it can be lit. If its not electronic.

On demand water heater won't stay lit

It's the gas valve. This pretty common. The thermocouple produces a small amount of current from the heat and this current holds the safety valve open inside the gas valve. Sometimes the safety valve gets sticky and your symptoms describe it exactly. People are always frustrated by the time it is certain to be the valve. You need to replace the valve. No one is allowed to fix a gas valve - liability - gas etc. Replace the gas valve and your problem will be solved. I am a master plumber/gasfitter and I am confident that this will solve the problem. Been there - done that.

Pilot light starts, but gas does not ignite.

IF no gas comes and the piolet is lit then the gas valve is stuck. You can purchase a seperate gas valve and replace it. If it is cost justified ,you will have to determine. As far as I know, one  cannot disassemble and repair the gas valve as you cannot purchase the parts for it.
