Hi, I have a Toshiba satellite c655 that shuts down while watching Hulu. When it starts up the screen is black but the cursor moves fine. After restarting and the desktop loads, everything but the cursor freezes. Any suggestions to fix this?

Turn the computer off all of the way by holding in the power button until it shuts off.
Turn it back on and immediately start tapping the F8 key. It should bring you to a menu that has an option for going to "Last Known Good Configuration". Choose that option and see if it boots up.
If pressing F8 doesn't bring you to the menu - you may need to run diagnostics on the computer. To get to the diagnostics, attempt to boot to the Boot Menu by pressing F11 or F12 at the boot screen and see if it gives you the option to run diagnostics.
sounds like an irq conflict after trying to install projector. you will have to boot into safemode and go grom there. dont know what op system your using . windows used to be f8 on start up but thats changed now too.
Have you turned on NUMLK?? If not, you get thd cursor to move you around the screen.
Hope this information will help.

In case of Laptops the Power Saving might be also controlled by propriety configuration of the manufacture. Read the laptop's manual and make sure that there is No addition or restrictions to the OS' native Power Saving settings.
There are different models of Toshiba Satellite C655 (about 9 models) and some have webcam and microphone built into LCD bezel (like Satellite C655-S5052 or Satellite C655-S5113) and some don't (like Satellite C655-S5068 and Satellite C655-S5049).
Sounds like a serious problem with the laptop. Since it's new, I would try to return or exchange the product at the store your bought it at to see if that rectifies the problem.
Without a task bar or icons, you won't be able to go to the recommended restore or recovery console options.
That's why I would recommend that you try to hurry up and get warranty replacement of the product before it's too late.
Not sure, by assumption here says that you have a battery issue. The battery has enough power to post then it shuts down. Then the next assumption is that you have a hard drive issue that is that you don't have enough storage on the hard drive to finish the post. Next is that your PC has a "virus" and that will entail reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling the Operation system. More detail is needed to assess further troubleshooting for this issue.
next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all.
