Right click on My Computer, choose Manage. Window opens, choose Services and Applications/Services. Look for Background Intelligent Transfer Services in the middle. Right click, choose Properties. Make it say, Automatic (delayed). Choose Apply. If it is not already running, click Start. Choose OK/Close or whatever. Close the Manage window. Reboot the computer. Good luck.

SOURCE: Can't boot with Cd-Rom unable to install windows XP

Well, maybe I can try, thus in your bios setting you can boot using usb cdrom? Or maybe its time to change your cdrom drive already. If you can borrow a good spare cdrom. Take this in for the meantime in exchange for your installed cdrom. Maybe your cdrom drive is faulty. Then if this is ok, it is now easy for you to get on.

Second option, you can take out your harddrive prime it, then have a partition (say d:\) with a copy of full copy of xp installer, and other important installer just have it foldered. Then I assume you can boot using a floppy drive with win98 rescue disk. After booting goto harddrive partition with xp installer. then click setup and set it up in c:\ . Then your go other software, installed it manually.

I do this coz it much faster to installed using harddrive and also it is only in xp.

Hope this helps. comments if I miss something.

Cannot run a virus scan, sys mech 10 pro

Upgrade to ver 10.5 and the problems are solved.

otherwise, I had to un-install it completely.... then re-installed it. It asked me to go on the internet for updates and it automatically gave me v 10.5 which fixed the scan HD issues.

Otherwise, boot the computer and press F8 and type this at the DOS command prompt.

chkdsk /f

This will fix the HD issues. Reboot and try System Mechanic. It should work from this point.

No other options available. Either of the 2 solutions given will work for sure.

Program won't start. Get message "the component IoloSystemService" is required for system mechanic to operate properly and could not be found. System Mech 9.5.6 is installed and looks good. Running XP,...

The "the component IoloSystemService" Error message shows up due improper installation of the System Mechanic Pro. Some of the Iolo dependencies failed to get activated and that is the problem.

Now the only solution to fix it is to follow a thorough uninstallation of the System Mechanic Pro.

For WinXP, you can uninstall it from the "Add or Remove Programs".

Next, once its unistalled do not RESTART the PC.

Now, go to the Registry (press "windows" + R to open the run command and type "regedit").

Click the Windows start button and select RUN. Type REGEDIT on the openfield.

On the left-hand side, expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER by clicking the + symbol next to the entry.
Expand Software.
Expand the iolo folder.
Navigate to the System Mechanic Professional folder.
Right-click on the System Mechanic Professional folder and select Delete.
Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
On the left-hand side, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE by clicking the + symbol next to the entry.
Expand Software.
Expand the iolo folder.
Navigate to the System Mechanic Professional folder.
Right-click on the System Mechanic Professional folder and select Delete.
Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Close the Registry Editor.
Click Start>My Computer and then navigate to your Local Disk (usually the C: drive) then Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic Professional.
Right-click on the System Mechanic Professional folder and select Delete.
Click Yes to confirm.

Reinstall the System Mechanic Pro

I have the same issue where ioloSystemService is required... on a 64bit Vista Home Premium system. Iolo Tech (NO) Support's solution is for me to pay them another $200 dollars so their Certified Microsoft Systems Engineer can look at my system (no guarantee it will work after he looks at it either) or take it to Best Buy, Geeksquad, or Staples and pay them $300 dollars to look at it. It's a shame because I have been using their product since the first beta version. I guess they have just gotten too big for their own good because they sure do not care about the customer.
