Question about Nintendo Super NES Console

TV flickers when playing a Super NES

I am trying to play my SNES. I have tried two different consoles, each with a different tv hook up and different games. I have the system hooked up straight into the tv. However, my screen flickers with a static sound. I can see the game and play the game. The sound works fine but it won't stop flickering. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: SNES doesn't display?

The CIC chip, also known as lock out chip, may have gone bad. Here is a quote from a site I found.

"Every SNES control deck has a regional lockout chip (known as a CIC), as does every original SNES game cartridge. Before a game is loaded, the console will attempt to communicate with the CIC chip on the game cartridge. If the CIC chip doesn't respond or does not correspond with the consoles CIC, the console won't load the game. In most cases, a black screen is displayed."

SOURCE: Vertical lines show up on my SNES picture of any game.

Do you have a third party AC adapter for it? If you aren't using the original one, check its voltage. Mine was a 9V instead of a 10V and while it allowed the machine to run, I got visual distortion effects similar to what you describe. If it isn't a 10V adapter, go to Amazon and get a real one instead of a cheap third party one. I got this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009ZKWC) and it works great!

SOURCE: NES console - white or green tv screen

first off flip your nes upside down and remove the screws to the cover of nes..... then flip your nintendo over and remove the cover.... remember you just voided your warranty for your nes..... then proceed to do the following:

find Chip 3193A and find the 4th pin on the left hand side near the blue coils. Remove or pull back the pin and your NES Will play Pal and NTCS games.

Hi there palmer573

What to do when your Wii Has problems with reading disks and you have tried cleaning the disk.

This does not mean your Disk Drive needs replacing more often than not it just needs the laser to be readjusted.

Option 1

You can send this off to Nintendo if your still in warranty because it is included in there free fixes so they will do the collecting for you, fix it and return the Wii to you, all for free, but it will take 4-6 weeks.

Option 2

If you are out of warranty its the same process as above but its $150 in cost

Option 3

now a new Disk drive would cost around $75 for a compatible one and you may need some one to fit it at a cost as well.

Option 4

What I recommend is a Wii Repair Guide that will show you the simple steps yourself, you will be up and running again in less than an hour and the cost is far less than option 2 & 3

Good Luck

Well it is caused by a broken or a loose connection the so try buying a new rf switch or av cables to see if it works if not then the bad news is that the super NES console is on its way out then. 5

I'm looking for a fix to my super nes. Whenever i connect the game to the tv and turn it on with a game inside all i see is large grey horizontal lines on the tv. The game cartridge works on the first try...

i have the same problem with the gray lines but mine blinks really fast and its extremely annoying. I think the problem is the tv you probably hooked up your snes to. I dont you which tv you hooked it up to but ive heard that if you use like a modernish tv, it will create those gray lines and the blinking so you should hook it up to an older tv. i dont no if this is true because i didnt switch my tv YET but hopefully, it will work better with an older tv. hope this helps ^_^

Extensively tested but unresponsive SNES controllers

Well it could be the controllers but its probably that one of the wires have gone bad in the super nintendo. Maybe try replacing. Just and idea though.

Snes screen jumps on certain tv

Okay, what I would try is hooking up the snes using the n64 cable. right next to the rf slot in the back of the super nintendo is a slot thats the same video output as the n64 you can plug in the rca cables from it and see if they work
