If the antenna is in a basement that is the problem - the fact that it is below ground means that no signals can get through.
Radio signals are blocked by buildings, large lumps of metal or other solid objects as well as strong magnetic fields (which can include electrical devices within the home).
To pick up good radio reception you will need an external antenna above the ground level - preferably as high as you can get it. Unless you get an omni-directional antenna like this one http://www.maplin.co.uk/vhf-fm-omnidirectional-aerial-874 you will need to point the antenna accurately at the transmitting station (+ or - about 5 degrees) for FM. At a pinch you might get by with an indoor aerial but it needs to be above ground level (inside a roof would be best)
Good external AM Radio aerials are harder to find these days.

Part of the circuit is a stereo multiplexer decoder, that decodes the fm stereo signal, I guess that is what you mean when you talk about capacitor linked to the fm band.

I do not have the sbchematics for this circuit, if you are good at electonics just grab the tester and check the whole circuit. On a radio is not difficult to find a blown capacitor.

Test also the stereo/mono switch.

My Klh r3000 receiver is great for everything except picking up am or fm stations? I had an antenna attached, but the unit is in my basement, and I get no signals at all. What could I be doing wrong?

Does not receive FM signals anymore, just noise.

The T6310 is a disposable radio. Assuming the programming is correct, and matching on each of your radios, and you are using good batteries, there is nothing which can be done to correct the problem. We would however, suggest you double check your programming, and also the age of your batteries.

Sidenote: Rechargeable batteries only last 18-24 months before they begin to fail. Signs of failure can include, but are not limited to, poor transmit, intermittent transmit, white noise, squelching sounds. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive, so your transmit would be the first to go.

Sansui s-x 700 no fm reception only noise

i have a sx700 sansui receiver, that the receiver is working fine.
My problem is on the amplifier section
Do you have a schematic diagram ?
Beeing an old amateur radio technician, that is, working with sophisticated receivers don´t see any problem to help you.
It is my oopinion however that unless I can have a copy of the complete schematic diagram it will be impossibleto start giving you ideas
Can you provide me a coopy of the schematic diagram
And tell me if the amplifier section is working fine and also (very important) if other frequencies, excluding fm are working.
Thank you inadvance,

I have a sansui receiver 9900z with a broken antena,I think. The broken part was connected to the rear near the antena connectors. I am not sure if this is suppose to ba a antena or not? The set plays well...

The back of the receiver should be marked for FM and AM antenna connections.
Usually the FM antenna needs at least a dipole antenna or a "T" antenna. The part that broke off is probably just the AM antenna.
If you go to your local Radio Shack, you can get a cheap AM/FM antenna for under 20.00. (probably under 10.00)
After hooking up an antenna, you should be good to go.

I hope this helps.
Good luck.
Please remember to leave a rating if I have helped you with your question.
