There are several ways to do this the first involves using the about:config there be dragons here changing pipelining and other settings then simplest way to to use a version of FasterFox all the below have been developed from the original that only changed the pipelining

for the first Faster Fox for Firefox versions v1.5 - v2.0 so it won't install on the latest v3.6.3 hence these clones you choose which one you prefer.
For the latest version of Firefox upto v3.6.3, note all these firefox add-ons are classed as experimental add-ons in the web development section HERE
all do a similar job and if you are upto it you can do all in the about:config section of your browserFasterFox (Eladkarako Mod) v3.1.2

howerver the FasterFox Lite version has several extra functions like disabling the IPv6 DNS Lookups on the advanced tab and extra options on the Rendering Tab however there is no Popuptab to prevent plugin popups to help with browser security. It aslso has no Enhanced prefetching like the other three instead it uses Link Prefetching instead otherwise all the other custom functions are exactly the sameFasterFoxLite v3.8.2

I have installed the Elad Karako version using these custom settings also if you delete the places.sqlite database so firefox will create a new one 132KB in size under the default profile, you will find it in the xxxxxx.default
folder type this at the run prompt to access the database, these databases can become bloated and cause long loading times if you delete this make sure that you create a backup.
If you don't want to delete it fully and just want to remove useless google toolbar entries that are known to be a problem use the Compress Sqlite Database
program from RecentX
If you don't really think that you can do this then just select the Turbo Charged
check box if you want super speed then go to the presets tab. Check the Custom option radio button to get the advanced options. PRESETS TABFASTERFOX TAB
Check the Enable Enhanced Prefetching to utilize idle bandwidth for download and cache links in the background.
If you check the Fasterfox Page Load Timer. This will show you the page load time in the status bar and clear the cache from the same location. You need to clear cache each time you retest a page.CACHE TAB
You can increase the the cache if you have enough RAM. In the DNS Cache Preference change the value of DNS Cache Expiration to 3600 and DNS Cache Entries to 512. Increasing the DNS cache of the browser will eliminate unnecessary DNS queries that slows down the performance.
If your physical RAM size is greater than 2GB you can increase this cache size as well most PC's however only have 1GB of RAM available for the user.CONNECTION TABPIPELINING TABRENDERING TAB
Initial Paint Delay is the time for which Firefox waits before beginning to render the page don't go lower than 10POPUP TAB
When the addon is loaded and setup you can clear cache OR hide the timer with a just right-click on the status bar, this is where you can also enter the Options menu without accessing the Tools Addons menu.
There are hidden preferences that can block these block the sneaky popups that are opened via Flash plugin so its best to disable these for security reasons.
This XPI is not the same as the others but is still worth a look for what it can bring to the users browsing experience Fastest Fox v4.0.3

You can also create another Profile in Firefox to try and findout what is slowing your browser down whether it be a plugin or toolbar start firefox using the run prompt
OR alternatively create your own shortcut bt right clicking the start menu copy the safemode shortcut and paste it with new name (Profile Manager) and change the properties
Then follow the wizard to create a new profile don't get it to autostart. allow yourself the liberty of being able to start both this can be changed later in the profile.ini file if required you will need to edit this file and change this line to read, then save it.
If you don't want to create another profile you can just start Firefox in safemode use the startmenu link for this, and then disable add XPI and toolbars
Then continue in safe mode you can enable the plugins one or two at a time to check to see which is giving you the long load times
