Question about Singer Futura CE-250

CE-250 FUTURA FABRIC WONT FEED THROUGH

The foot that is supposed to keep the fabric moving (i.e. stitch length) is dropped too low and wont catch the fabric and guide it through as its supposed too.

I'm confused by what you mean, but have you raised the presser foot to put the fabric in first? (There's a lever in the back) Also, if you are using it in embroidery mode, you can use your finger to lift the presser foot even farther if you've already lifted it by the lever.) I'm sorry if this doesn't answer your question, I'm just not sure what you mean...

I have this same problem. The pressure foot is not advancing the fabric to make the stitches. It is just stitching in place

SOURCE: Singer Stylist 457 has feed

Hi szimbrick,

Besides replacing the needle plate, you could find a way to shim the plate up a little. You could do this with masking or duct tape. Or, if you have a handy husband or friend and the plate is quite a bit low, perhaps he or she could make a thin wood insert to fit under it.

If you would like to replace the plate, here is a website where you can order one: http://leasewingcenter.com/needleplates01.htm

Before you order one, should you want to, check out the part number against the one you have if it has one on the underneath somewhere. The part number is 352461-892

If I was short on cash, I would shim mine until I could find another...

I hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Is there an adjustment or control to make the pressure foot advance the fabric?

I wouldn't have thought so. The whole idea of using an embroidery attachment is to use it freehand. You could, of course, contact Singer customer support Customer Support

Sewing basic stitch is good on right side of fabric but looks like a wavy line on reverse

Hi. Chances are your upper thread tension may need to be adjusted, increasing it by very small amounts at a time (say one tenth of one whole number), see if the stitching on the bottom improves. Another possibility is that the bottom fabric is moving around. Try pinning top and bottom together with straight pins set at a right angle to the stitch line. A third possibility could be lower thread tension set to tight. If the lower tension screw is all the way in, this is likely your problem.

I'm new to sewing. It did not come with an operating guide and I find the stitch settings really confusing I would like to know how to set it to do a basic straight stitch for a simple dress pattern....

Look for the row of straight vertical lines. This is the straight stitch. There will also be a number dial for stitch length. Use a piece of scrap to find the length of stitch you want. Make sure you have the bottom feed lever or button activated. This will operate the textured plates that come up from underneath to move the material forward or reverse. Also, make sure you drop the presser foot lever before you start. Hold both threads, manually lower the needle to the first stitch starting point and use the pedal from there on. When you press the pedal, you can let go of the threads.
