That's weird that your furnace will turn on for around 20 seconds then shut off. My furnace has also been acting a little off. It stays on, but it doesn't actually pump out any heat. We have pretty cold winters where I live, so I really need my heater. I think that the both of us should probably find professional heating repair to look at our furnaces.http://www.northwestheating.biz

Have you had chimney/stack checked for any obstructions, so air can flow through and out properly. Also have gas pressure checked and burner cleaned.

It sounds like the flame sensor is bad. If thats not the case you may need to replace the control board. You should make sure the flame sensor is directly into the flame.

Intertherm Furnace Will not stay on

Your furnace is likely getting too hot check your filter. make sure the fan is running. if you have weak air flow you may have a blocked heat transfer coil. you should have your heating and cooling system serviced yearly by a qualified company to inspect and test equipment.

Furnace won't stay on

Flame sensor could be dirty. It is located right beside the last burner looks like a thick piece of wire. Take steel wool and gently clean the probe 4 or 5 strokes is all it will take to take off the carbon build up off. Lets eliminate this item and see if it clears up okay. ken

Ruud air to air heatpump intertherm propane furnace honeywell th5220d non programable thermostate.fan on furnace will not turn off in aux.mode even though the furnace heat kicks on and off. thank you for...

Make sure fan relay is wired correctly (G) wire. Ensure the fan on therm is not on, it should be on Auto or off.

If your furnace is short cycling because it has to keep heating your home, the delay in the control board may be staying on to compensate for the exchangers getting hot. If it heats normally, then put your attention to your thermostat.

Set the heating system on aux heat only. Fan should not be on, if it does stay on after a heating cycle, see if the furnace is heating normally, and reaching temp as desired before the heat comes off. Then check the therm wiring, pull the face of the therm, disconnect green wire (fan) and try the heating again.

Elec. intertherm FURNACE

It would help if I knew what type of system you have, lets start with the thermostat. If you disconnect the wires to it, does the heat turn off? I have seen thermostat wires pinched inside the wall, thus bypassing the thermostat controls altogether and it would run constantly. If you send a reply, tell the type. Wall furnace, central unit, heat & cool, gas, electric or heat pump. If you dont know tell me how many wires you have at the thermostat and the colors. You should know this, as you have changed it.
