Hi, got a prolem with our oil fired boiler. To start with it wasn't firing at all so I replaced the room thermostat with an RTS1, the boiler worked perfectly for 2 days then began to go wrong, not firing when the thermostat was requesting heat. I then replaced the old drayton programmer with a new Drayton Lifestyle LP522. Again, it worked perfectly for about 2 days and then the same problem occurred, boiler not firing etc. Is my boiler possessed or something? Going off my head. Help :-(

SOURCE: Forced Hot Air Heating system doesn't maintain thermostat setting

It sounds like you may have issues with the furnace. A qualified professional can go over the system and the house to let you know if the system and unit are properly sized. The poor performance of a furnace can be a sign of carbon buildup in the furnace.
Good luck, hope this helps.

SOURCE: my boiler keeps firing up

I had the same problem. I traced it to the micro switch in the water/central heating motorised valve having shorted out.

I replaced the (Honeywell) motorised valve and it is now only running when it should.

Can't help you directly, but Honeywell will have user instructions on their website.
It's something like holding the 'stat within a metre of the boiler when the batteries are inserted. Best to RTFI.

I do not have a room thermostat connected to my oil fired central heating boiler. I want to install a wireless room thermostat to avoid having to run cable. how do i go about this and which is the best...

All wireless wall thermostats are Millivolt controlled. rather than having an 18 or 24 volt (transformer) wired wall thermostat. Before purchasing any wireless wall thermostat, you need to determine what your oil fired boiler requires for activation. My experience tells me, that it's going to require either 18 or 24 volts. In which case a wireless thermostat won't work.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Alpha boiler - wireless programmer failing

it sounds like the problem may be in the boiler and not the controller itself. Do you kno which is are the two wores that are the r-w for the thermostat take and purt them together and see if the boiler stays on or shuts off like it does with the thermostat. If it does then replace the reciever. If it doesn't then you have another problem. Good Luck

Thermostat not firing central heating

the stat works using a bi metalic strip so that click you here is making a contact and telling the boiler to call for heating so if you getting no click you need a new room stat. Replace with same model and note the wiring most stats only use 2/3 wires depending on system
