does the dryer heat initially when you first turn on the dryer Or no heat at all?
the first thing i would check is tthe thermal fuse thats located on the back of the unit. test it with a multimeter and see if it has continuity, if it doesnt then replace that and your operating thermostat. the check to be sure you venting to the outside of your house is not clogged

SOURCE: Kenmore elite dryer no heat
You may want to check if the heating element needs replacing. Most Dryers have 2 heating elements that are found by taking the back off, some of the newer dryers have 3.

Your gas dryer uses a pilot-less burner assembly that has an electric igniter. It is designed this way to prevent free-flowing gas from filling up the appliance cabinet without ignition. Such a condition could cause an explosion. The way the ignition system in most of today’s appliances work is like this:
1. Press the start button.
2. The igniter on the burner assembly begins to glow.
3. Once the igniter reaches the required current potential, the gas safety valve opens.
4. Gas is introduced into the manifold and you have ignition.
NOTE: It can take roughly 30 – 90 seconds from the time you press start to the time it takes for the gas to ignite.
If you are having problems with ignition, it may be something as simple as a bad igniter. Just because an igniter glows, does not necessarily mean it is good. They do become weak with age and if they do not draw the required current potential, they will not allow the gas safety valve to open. There are two basic types of igniters:
Carborundum (Cylindrical in shape) – needs to produce 2.5 to 3.0 amps for the gas safety valve to work.
Norton (Rectangular in shape) – needs to produce 3.2 to 3.7 amps for the gas safety valve to work.
NOTE: There is a UNIVERSAL FLAT BAR igniter on the market as well, that can be used as a substitute if the igniter type that came with your range is not available.
Your igniter appears to be the Norton type. The part number is 279311 and can be purchased at pcappliancerepair.com for about $22. Instructions should be included with the parts kit. NOTE: If the igniter connector plug does not match the one you have, there are instructions that explain how to cut and splice the connections using a set of ceramic wire lugs included with the kit. Do not use standard wire lugs as they will melt due to heat. CAUTION: Make sure you unplug the dryer and turn off the gas source prior to servicing.

It could be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, dryer coils, heat sensor,or igniter. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at t http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html his will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.
