Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40S2000 40 in. LCD HDTV
I plugged it in and all I here is the "click" of the power button, no sound or pic
For most do it yourself people this may not be something to tackle.
You would have to safely get the cover off the set and about the only thing you could do then is a visual inspection of the power supply board (follow the power cord to it) and look for damaged parts or puffed up filter caps--see attached photos.
Short of that unless you have a good meter and some other things this is likely a shop repair---keep in mind individual parts are not sold for any of these sets-----only circuit boards.
guessing which board is bad and replacing can get expensive.
The set should have a blink code (most of the Sony sets do) and the click you are hearing is likely the mechanical relay in the power supply indicating the set is trying to come on but does not make it, if you hear it click on and then click again that is shutdown.
May be time to have a tech or a shop look at the set.
Let me know if you have questions.

The Tv is trying to boot and is hitting an error, entering protection mode, then reseting. With that model the most likely problem is a bad power supply. I would open it up and take a look for any clear problems (swollen capacitors etc) If you can you can google for a service manual to correctly diagnose the problem. It might be worth repair but for a 26 inch most likely not. Tiger Direct has 32 High def LCD 299 free ship right now.
If you can get a good price on a power supply and a main board this should fixyour tv. At your TVs market value (if your time worth anything) I would sell it as-is on E-bay and buy a new one.
You can check http://www.RNS-Systems.com
or E-bay for parts.

SOURCE: Sony Plasma TV.
I have the same problem. since I have 3 of these TV's, I switched boards around, and I came to the conclution that is the power board. I will try to repair it, and I'll let you know the component that is bad. Gaston

You need to check the output voltages of the power supply to see which one goes off. It may be due to short circuits some where, if otherwise
the power supply board is dead,do you know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hoping that this will help to solve the problem.....
