Using other designs

If you design in Wilcom you have to make sure you save it in a size your Brother can handle. A lot of the time the failure is due to file size.

There is a free software that allows you to convert them but I am sorry I don't recall the name of it. Just be aware that your conversion may surprise you as far as stitching. Always test stitch before stitching on your project

I have sew-what-pro but you can down load a 30 day 60 save trail for free.

I just looked on ebay and there is a store that sells your bobbins, 25 for $13.99. You can google your machine bobbins, by entering "brother xl 5001 bobbins" and you will get the sites for them. You may find that a class 15 bobbin will work or a SA156. There are also sites that sell your manual, and of course, you can always call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and complaint that they do not have your manual available for free to download.

I have just bought a Brother XL 5500SE. I am having problems with sewing jersey fabrics. I need a stretch stitch=SS- but cannot regulate the stitch length. and the dial of stitches available e.g. 13...

i would use ball point needles and check my manual for what they suggest for stitching. Sometimes the shell stitch is great and other times I use the straight stretch. If, you look at your manual you will see a chart as to what the best size needle and thread for your project. Don't be afraid to experiment, just relax and enjoy. All it costs is a little scrap material and you can teach yourself so much. Go online for support if you need it at Brother-usa.com and they have frequently asked questions there, too.

Uneven stitches while machine quilting.

Are you using the right size needle and thread? Also, check tension recommended by your manual. Let me know if that helps, because I can ask my sister who has that machine
