Contact Toshiba with your model number and serial number. Hopefully, you registered the laptop when you bought it.

nVidia is a scanning program that makes backup copies of your drivers. If they were destroyed, there is nothing to back up.

Go to this site and download and run this program. It will tell you EXACTLY what's in and on your computer. You can then go to the website that makes your soundcard, and any other devices you're having problems with.

Why do you want to do a destructive reboot? What is the main problem - Viruses
Low level format from the bios or depending on your laptop, by pressing one of the F keys will go into recovery mode. This will wipe everything and reinstall everything.
Hope this helps

I believe I have a virus running on my laptop. Every time that I load up my laptop, Windows XP Recovery loads up and says that I have various viruses and problems running on my computer. How can I get rid...

On another computer download ccleaner portable edition and advanced system care portable edition and put them on a usb stick or sd card. Run ccleaner on your laptop to erase undesirable files, then run advanced system care which deeply cleans spyware, malware, registry issues, and security issues. Afterwards, reboot your laptop. Hope this helps!

My laptop mouse wont move after i log in it freezes. Everything else works fine. and if i plug in a usb mouse it works but the actually laptop mouse doesnt how do i fix it.?

Hi there,

Do uninstalling the mouse driver of your laptop, restart the unit and let it detect the mouse. When it detect re-install the driver, you may need the driver support cd for this.

Also make sure that there was no virus or any system like error happen on your laptop. Viruses can also cause of this problem and may result for your hardware not to function properly. When your unit boots up to slow this is an indications that there was an error on your system and it needs to be scan for any virus, or better yet you may reinstall again new windows system.

Hope this info/idea helps, kindly let me know for further assistance.

Thank you for using fixya.

The computer is freezing in the windows opened, I have installed a "very good anti virus" program, however everytime a "full scan is run" it is full of threats and viruses...how can I fix the problem?...

Hi, which antivirus do you have?
You may need spyware and malware checkers
http://www.safer-networking.org//
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2354111,00.asp
http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
These are just a few.
Really when all is said and done you need to wipe the system clean. If you are not bothered about losing stuff then get the original discs out anfd reformat the system and reinstall everything.
People normally get viruses when they download from filesharing sites or from porn site. They get roped into downloading certain software that says it has scanned your system and have found several viruses.
If you need more help, please ask.

Virus

Don't reformat it just yet. Tell us what OS you are using, and I can try to help.
I will assume you are using WIndows XP or Vista - what you can do, assuming you have kept your PC up-to-date, is try to run the inbuilt Microsoft anti-malware program.
Click Start, Run, type MRT and press Enter or click OK.
You should get the February 2009 version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Do a quick scan and see what comes up. If anything is found, reboot and repeat the process doing a full scan (can take several hours).
That should fix and remove the most common virus infections. Let me know how you get on.

If you still need to reformat, you need to use the Dell recovery CDs that came with your laptop. These were a blue recovery/drivers CD and a purple CD for Windows XP sp1 or a green CD for Windows XP sp2. Not sure about other versions of Windows. There is no magic button to reformat with Dell laptops.

NO SOUND FILES ON LAPTOP

Hi gembo,

I'm gonna try and help you out with this but first I need to know the actual problem that your
having there. Can you actually hear any sound from your computer when windows loads up?
If what you mean are the mp3 files that you actually have saved on your computer after you wiped
everything out. You can actually retrieved it using 3rd party software but its more like 50/50 situation already.
