Shut down your computer, unplug from AC outlet, remove battery, replace battery, plug into AC outlet, re-start. It sounds like when you leave your computer on for a period of time it goes into Hibernation hence the Compaq screen upon waking. I never leave my laptops on when not in use I always shut down, I remove the batteries if I am going to be working at home with a AC outlet. As to the slugish behavior my advice would be run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/) it's free, do you have a good Anti Virus? If you do run a complete scan, if not try Avast! Free Antivirus (http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/) free. There are many things that make a computer slow, How many Start-UP programs are running, look in Task Manager, to see what is using all your resourses. Your laptop has decent specs it shouldn't be "bogging down". In CCLEANER there is a section, look on the left for "TOOLS" and click on it look for the section "STARTUP, What is starting up that you do not need? If you need assistance let me know I'll be happy to assist. By the way I never use Hibernation.
Most newer computers are now equipped with bluetooth capablilites.
Simply go to the Start Menu: In the "search" box below, type the words "bluethooth". If it is equipped with bluetooth, it will reveal options for connecting certain devices for bluetooth.

You have to purchase Office 2007 to obtain a license, only one license per package. You cannot use anybody else's license. Instead of pay for Microsoft office, download OpenOffice. It is free and it is fully compatible with Office 2007:
I could not tell what OS, or complete model number you are running. 1.) Please click here and choose your model number. There are three choices for the F500 (CTO, EA, or XX at the top of the list). 2.) On the next screen choose your OS (such as XP). 3.) This will take you to a page to download your driver. Scroll down to Driver - Network and choose the option that has the word driver in it. 4.) Download and run that.
Please let me know if you need any assistance at that point.

Taking Gateway laptops is an easy endeavor. Here is a link to a disassemble of a 3500 series . Basically they all come apart the same.
Hope this helps. Just take your time and remember what screw goes where.
It sounds like to me a malware issue, the most easiest way to solve this would be a System Recovery (I will warm you, you will lose all your documents and photos..luxury items basically) but this is a easy simple process and you will keep your Windows Operating System I need you to make sure the Laptop is completly shut down then turn it on and continuiously tap F10 or F11 until it starts Windows System Recovery then you need to choose System Recovery back to original settings. This should stop the issue of the shutting down of the operating system. If not let me know, I can assist you further or with directions via phone at my Office at 1-978-878-0014 Ext. 182 and I will be more than happy to assist you...But it should work just fine...I wish you the best and your computer should be fine then. Is there anything else I can assist you with?
