SOURCE: 455 rancher chainsaw does not pump oil to the chain

If you look under the machine by the chain you'll see a flat head screw (next to the sprocket) which controls the bar and chain oil flow . Try to turn the screw and check if there's any oil flow to the chain . If not you will need to replace the oil pump (part # 537 10 55-02 which will cost you about $35.00) Hope this help

SOURCE: husvarna chainsaw hole in oil lubrication tank

J-B Weld is probably your best option. Cleaning it so it adheres properly is the hard part. Did you ask your local Husky dealer? They may have some options the average owner does not. Phone calls are inexpensive.

Probably cast aluminum, maybe magnesium. HTH and Good Luck.

SOURCE: no oil flow to lubricate chainsaw bar and chain.

have you drained oil tank and checked oil pickup filter ?

have you checked oil tank breather ?

next check the drum and worm oil pump driver , they should have no damage to them , and engage the drum and worm should engage the pump shaft correctly with no slipping or binding , check the oil outlet hose is clear and make sure the pick up hose is clear with no holes / tears in its length but mostly sounds like the oil pump and worm need replacing ?

if you find a worm pump and worm gear replace them and make sure the oil pick hose seals off the oil tank to pump opening ( because if it sucks air with will not pump properly ) and oil will leak out under gravity while sitting

Lost operating and maintenance instructions. Need to know how much oil to put into the self lubricating chain reservoir and where it feeds the chain to make sure there isn't a blockage anywhere.

You are free to charge to the top if you think right to use a chainsaw. It is essential that the oil is clean. If you accidentally charge too much (full hopper) it is good the rest of oil put back in the oil bottle or to extend on the chain. It is important that it is not oil-free and should be cleaned around the chain for good lubrication.

CHAIN OILER See Figure 18. ? Use Premium Bar and Chain Lubricant. It is designed for chains and chain oilers and is formulated to perform over a wide temperature range with no dilution required. ? Remove the cap and carefully pour bar and chain lubricant into the chain oiler tank. ? Replace the cap and tighten securely. ? Check and refill the chain oiler tank every hour when using an electric power head or every time the engine is fueled when using a gas power head. NOTE: Do not use dirty, used, or otherwise contaminated lubricants. Damage may occur to the oil pump, bar, or chain.

Your response about the electric chain saw that must be oiled manually was about a self-oiling chain saw so it did not answer my question. How to oil the saw? Use an oil can to spread the oild across the...

Your chain saw is a manually oiled model which means YOU have to pump it.YOU do not pour oil on the chain. An auto oiler model works without you doing anything, the pump is run by the engine. A manual model, you pump the oiler The Chain saw has internal oil channels or holes to apply the oil directly under the chain and into the chain bar guide. Pouring oil on the guide or chain will NEVER lubricate the chain properly. Whomever gave you such an idea is just plain wrong. I sent you the link to the owner manual and gave you a diagram. Ryobi chainsaw 4545 automatic chain lubrication not working

That number you provided does not cross to an IPL (exploded parts list) here:
Homelite/Ryobi.com
https://www.gardnerinc.com/recons/disclaimer-lg.php - Agree; Choose “Product Line”; “Select OEM” & “Select Catalog” both to “Homelite Consumer Products”. A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here.
The numbers Homelite & Ryobi use don't match the numbers everyone posts. A careful inspection of your saw should find something that matches. It is the only illustration I've found that gives any oil line rouling detail.

Oil System Plugged.
A blunted, hooked piece of wire can be used to pull the hose in the oil tank out. I recommend the filter be replaced. Work your way through the linkage cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (probably left handed thread). The saw can be operated without the bar and chain to verify oiler operation. Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly. GL

What is the gas- oil mix to use for fuel?

Check the cap on the fuel tank normally for chainsaw 40:1 or 50:1 this additional oil is the only lubricant these engines get as they are 2-stroke & do not have a sump of oil for the engine.the other oil is only to lubricate the chain & bar & uses a tacky oil . only mix small amounts of gas for use as it goes stale.
