Question about Projection Televisions

I have a 1997 sanyo tv and would like to hook up an older toshiba dvd player and playstation for my kids. I also have a cale box to this tv. When I hook everything up the cable works great. I can only get a picture for the dvd and no sound and i can't figure out how to hook up the playstation. Any thoughts or is this not possible?

The only way this is possible is if you have individual inputs (1,2,3) and use the input button to switch between. You should have at least 2, check the back, and even should have one in front. Make sure the inputs don't share audio inputs, it will say on the cabinet.

HOW TO GET A FULL PICTURE WITH OUT BORDERS ON EACH SIDE

It depends what you're watching: For regular TV, cable, satellite and DVD then you just need to use the Aspect ratio button. It is the PIX SHAPE button. Make sure all your source boxes have their picture menus set for a 16:9 (widescreen) TV.

If you are watching Blu-ray, then the situation is different. Blu-ray expects that you have a 16:9 TV. If you use a Blu-ray player to watch a DVD, and that DVD is an older 4:3 shape movie, then you'll be stuck with the bars left and right. It's the player that formats the picture in that way. There's nothing you can do with the TV controls because they'll be locked to 16:9 mode.

How do i set my Toshiba ct-90157 remote to watch dvd's

Most DVD players are connected to one of the rear audio/video inputs--hook to that input and select it on the TV--then hit play and if connected correctly you will see the movie.

I am trying to hook up my tv to my receiver, I have a dvd vcr combo, and cable box

Audio: There should be a set of audio outputs on your TV. Connect those to the AUX inputs of your receiver. When you turn on your receiver, set it to AUX. Set your TV volume to approx 1/3 and adjust the volume on your receiver. There's probably a menu section on the TV to turn off your TV speakers so the sound will only come from your receiver.

DVD/VCR (I'll call it DVD from this point forward): Connect the video (yellow) output from the DVD to the "video input" on the back of the TV. Connect the audio out on the DVD player (red) to the red audio input on the back of the TV, then do the same with the other audio (white). When you want to use your DVD player, you'll select "input 1" as the input on the TV.

Cable: Your cable box probably has numerous output types. I have the cable box hooked up to both the DVD player AND to the TV; one output type going to the DVD player and another output type going to the TV. I like to use the HDMI output from the cable box to the TV, and the composite video from the cable box to the DVD.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.
