I have the same problem. Mine is a self-cleaning oven. But I'm just preheating it 450 and it did it. Then this AM it did it while broiling.

SOURCE: ge oven turns off by itself, and sometimes gives

F2 Oven temp exceeds 590 w/ unlocked door High resistance or interference in oven temperature sensor. Replace oven temperature sensor F2
Note: Also see fan thermal switches Indicates that oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either a cooking or clean mode of operation.
· Control senses oven temperature above 650 degrees F with the door circuit in the unlock mode.
· Control senses oven temperature above 935 degrees F with the door in the locked mode.
· Stalled cooling fan or airflow problem. · Look for welded relay contacts. (Heating elements on in off mode).
· Look for open thermal switch in lock motor circuit. Switch is normally closed and will open if area overheats due to fan not operating. Look for cause - fan thermal switch not closing, fan stalled, etc.
· Look for high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit due to high contact resistance (poor terminal crimp, deformed terminals, loose connection) or intermittent solder joint on control or intermittent oven temperature sensor.
· Look for electrical noise interference in the oven temperature sensor circuit (Ham radio, cordless phone, etc.).

Our GE JKP14 Oven's Burner Element caught on fire. A small bit of it. Turning the oven off did nothing, but once we turned off the circuit breaker the fire instantly went out.

call in an electrician as turning off the switch should have stopped the fire
There may be a problem in the way it is wired up.

Tip

Replacing igniter

GE wall ovens have panels for regulator and ignitor wiring at the lower back of oven. remove all screws and plates to expose wiring. clip off defective igniter and use ceramic wire nuts to fasten new one. re-assemble.

I learned from local gas company that igniter is most frequent part to replace.

cost = $35

GE technical support = non-existent.

power of the internet - priceless!

GE free-standing electric range Pre-heat oven temp is about 50 degrees less than what is set (i.e. set digital display to 400 and over only reaches about 350). Is there an adjustment that can be made to...

We have a new GE Range and the signal beeps at about 100 degrees below the temp which we have set . The dealer replaced the sensor and the control circuit, but there was no change.
A service tech from GE came to our house and explained that the new ovens have a bottom heating element which is covered and therefore heats the lower part of the oven more slowly; but the exposed upper element heats more rapidly and the sensor is located near the upper element. We were advised to wait for about 15-20 minutes after the beep before placing the food in the oven. Judging from the number of comments found online, this seems to be a feature of newer ranges.

The igniter was bad i replaced it with a new one (seemed simple enough) but when i put it on broil or bake the igniter doesn't turn red, is there something i'm not doing?

The igniter is in 'series' with the gas coil that operates the gas valve. The gas coil is probably bad. You can replace the coil not the whole valve. Go to repair clinic.com and put in the model number and they will have it.

No, the gas valve for the oven is electric and requires a complete circuit (ie; igniter, sensors, etc) in order to operate
