same and driving me crazy ..i have the cd out but still running

It won't work with the pinhole...a cd is physically stuck in the head unit.

My brother-in-law managed to take it apart and get it unstuck to salvage the cds, but there was no power to the head unit at all. $500+ repair fee at bose.

Scratch the system and get a new one...or play cds on ur dvd player.

    Good luck!

There should be a tiny pinhole on the drawer. Put the end of a paper clip into the hole and push lightly. This will release the cd drawer.

I also have an older lifestyle system. The 6 disk cartridge was not ejecting and was making noise as soon as I powered it up. A friend of mine had it apart (not difficult) in a few minutes and found that the little gear that runs off a small drive motor which operates the disk receiver had this problem: the small plastic gear is just pressed on a tiny metal shaft that protrudes from the drive motor and moved forward enough so that its gears didn't engage. The only solution was to Super Glue it back onto the shaft. We actually did this today. It's working now but who know's about tomorrow? I would love to keep the speakers and upgrade the player but this doesn't seem possible. Bose is a master at not allowing its customers to use any other products, eg., ipod so I'm pretty sure I'll dump the system and never buy Bose again. PS: The top cover of the player is just glued on. Be patient and it will pry off.

You can open the box and get the damn thing out by prying off the metal part on top and then unscrewing screws until you get it. That's what I did. Not a great solution and certainly not a fix for the CD player but you can at least get the incessant clicking to stop and use the receiver for radio. I have just input another CD player into the back - not a great solution, but you know...

I have the same problem. The disk is stuck halfway out of the carrier and the drive mechanism just makes a non-stop whirling sound. Does anyone know how to open the box without breaking it?

I can not eject a disc from the disc player. I've heard this is a common problem. Thanks. Curt Pasawicz

Hi curt730,

You're right, this is a known issue for years with Bose Lifestyle. You may try these steps to resolve the issue:

Note: You will need a flashlight and a small screwdriver.

1. First, disconnect the base unit from the system.

2. Turn the base unit upside down and find the access hole embossed with "Manual magazine release" on the CD player side.

3. Then, using the flashlight, look inside the base unit at those access holes and find the fine spring and locate where it fastens to the sheet metal of the CD player.

4. The moment you find the spring you should see that it connects to the CD player chassis at the forward end and a piece of sheet metal that is on top (actually underneath when the base unit is right-wide up) of the CD player chassis at the rear end. This is the manual release mechanism.

5. Finally using the small screwdriver, push the release mechanism rearward to release the CD magazine from the player. The magazine should pop out.

If the magazine is not released, then the CD that is still in the player has not been slid back fully into the magazine. In this case you'll need to plug the base unit back into power and hope that the CD is retracted, allowing you to push the release mechanism rearward. If not then you'll have to open the base unit to access the CD player.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Is there a way to open the lifestye 20 to manually release the cd that is stuck. Im not finding any screws

I'd suggest taking a look at this thread http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/1/154803.html
i.e.
"Turn the unit on. Pick it up from the right side and rest it on its left side in a vertical position. Gently tap the right side of the media console while hitting the eject button at the same time. I had to tap it hard before it would eject the cd cartridge, but it did come out with all CD's intact. I will try to pry it open and check the gear on the motor. I have had this Lifestyle 25 system for 8 years problem free before the CD cartridge got stuck, and Bose technical help told me how to get it unstuck. But they now want me to trade my system in for a new one. I'm not ready for that yet, I'll check the gear on the motor that Anonymous mentioned."

I can not get the Magazine to release. I see where it say's Manual Magazine realease, but can't tell what to do. Please help Darrell Mack

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check that the speaker cables are not damaged and the connections are secure. Reduce the output level from any external components connected to the music center. Make sure the audio input cable is firmly seated in the music center SPEAKER ZONE 1 jack and the multi-pin connector on the other end is firmly seated in the Accustoms module AUDIO INPUT jack. Check the cables connecting the Jewel Cube TM speakers to the Accustoms module. To restore communication between the music center and the speakers turn the music center off for ten seconds, then on again. Check the connections for any external components. Make sure to select the correct source for the desired input. Be sure the CD is placed correctly, label-side up, in the magazine, and the magazine is inserted properly in the music center. Increase the volume. Check to see if MUTE is lit on the display. If it is, press the MUTE button on the remote control to un-mute the sound. Disconnect any headphones. Connect the FM and AM antennae. Check to see if the play symbol in the display is lit. After pressing the CD key, wait a few seconds before pressing PLAY. Make sure the magazine is properly inserted. Check to see if there is a disc in the magazine, label-side up. Display shows a flashing box for a disc that is label-side down or cannot be read. There may be dirt or dust on the CD. If so, clean the CD. Eject the magazine and try loading the CD again. A display message “E01” indicates a mechanical error. Unplug the music center. Reconnect power and try again. If “E01” reappears, call customer service.

If the CD stuck again as you stated in your earlier comments, then you need to use a small and long screwdriver to reach the notch. Now turn the media center upside down so that the "Manual Magazine Release" is in your upper right hand. Locate the two small rectangular "Open Slots" on the side. You need to use the top slot. Use the screwdriver and push the little "U" or "Y" Shaped metal upward which is just below the manual release. The magazine will come out.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Have a 6 disc cd player in a BOSE 30 Lifestyle system that will not eject the cd holder

Hi,

May i suggest you try selecting each of the 6 CD's then depress each of these buttons waiting about 10 seconds between each press - play, stop, eject. You can also try powering off the unit between each press. It may be the microprocessor that send the commands to logic circuitry to perform the next mechanical funtion. It isn't necessarily something that you did wrong. It could simply be an electronic failure.

Stuck CD cassette

Dear needhelp5246,
What you need is a screw driver not a sledgehammer. Open the bottom plate of the system and eject the cd magazine manually. Hope this solve your problem.

2nd question

are you determined to try to fix the CD unit ?
it could be taken apart and the problem found with dificulty unless it is obvious from the outset and thus resolved, ( i suggest you get a new cd 20 or a second hand replacement or remanufactured unit, all available from bose or try ebay etc. they are old now and not very expensive.

PS the reason the unit is sticking is beacuse it is most likely the cassette is damaged ( you can buy a replacement cassette, part number is on the side (llook up on intenet) and identical generic and after-market ones are avaialbe as the cassette is a standard part.)
second most likely cause is something caught in the cassets insertion mechanism which will involve opening cd 20 - not recommended to open this unless you are determined to do so and spend lots of time messing with springs andmotors and belts etc.

my advice..... get a replacement cassette first (borrow a mates one first to check) then replace cd 20 its not going to cost too much.

DVD stuck won't eject

You must unplug the unit from the wall for 1 minute (this allows the unit to reset). Then plug the unit back in but before you turn it on press and hold the eject button and then turn it on, it will eject the disk.

Bose Lifestyle 30 6-cd changer magazine manual release?

hi, you can release the magazine by inserting a small flat head screwdriver in the slot and pushing the lever towards the back of the unit, this will release the cd but only if ther is not one stuck in the player as it will remain halfway between the mag and the cdplayer. don't force it to comae out. remember to obviously have the dorr to the player open before you try this.
