What is the best way to lay down the clear coat over my finish coat on the fender I just painted but ruined when I shot the clear coat?

Refer to the paint manufacturer's data sheet to ensure the new gun has the right setup for clearcoat.

Could be the new gun was supplied setup for spraying a high solids primer or something that needs something like a 0.7 mm fluid tip. Clearcoat would need a 0.4 mm tip, an appropriate needle and a different air cap.

Data sheets are very valuable things. Don't forget to pick one up when you buy spray paint. A viscosity cup is another useful addition to the tool kit along with a graduated paint stirring stick.

Re-fresh old cabinet fronts

Give them a light sanding with 280 grit sand paper. Clean well with mineral spirits (anything with water will raise grain and not take stain evenly) Stain cabinets with a gel stain, brush on and wipe off with a rag (check product instructions for how long to leave on before wiping off) If a darker finish is desired apply another coat after first coat is completely dry. Once stain is dry and you have the color you want then you will clear coat with a poly. First coat of poly will need to be a light "tack coat". before it is completely dry apply another coat aprox 30 mins. Let second coat dry completely prob 24-48 hrs. then sand with a 400grit sandpaper. and continue process for at least 4 coats. Dont forget to get desired sheen of poly when you purchase. If brushing on you will prob not want to use a really high gloss (may show brush strokes). Good Luck

I'm cleaning my rim and for some reason it is turning a gold color. What could be the reason for this?

Can be several reasons. Some types of plating or covering is the top finish of the wheel, but the base metal is a different color and not pretty.

I have seen chromed wheels bleed down to the core behind the lead wheel weights. Those left a bronze mark in the same place and outline of the lead weights.

Now there are different procedures in producing a finish on metal. Some use an acid bath and different chemicals produce colors in metal. Sounds like the wheel you have could have been surface etched and now the top finish is rubbed down below its finish. Some makers use a clear coat to maintain the finish longer.

You should contact the Car company who made your wheel for ideas about refinishing them. Now there are some excellent spray paints for coating wheels and the cost is minimal and some use spray cans and others need air compressor spray guns. Likewise some need an adhesive base coat and some need a protective clear coat. Its all about compatible layers of coatings.

My personal experience, for instance, on my 83 GM Pontiac Aluminum rims was to use the finest grade steel wool and remove the old chipped surface by hand rubbing to clean metal. Then using Mothers products to hand buff to a brighter finish and then thoroughly remove all traces of chemicals with an alcohol wash. The top coat was a spraycan application of specific "Wheelcoat" clearcoat.

Please rate my info.

Pump loses prime causing ice cream to spit out.

If it is "spitting" you might want to check all the components from the mix container all the way up to the door where ice cream is dispensed. Check for leaking mix hoses as well as broken or clogged diaphragm (inside fitting in mix cabinet). Refer to the manual to find the diaphragm.

I have a new Kenmore Elite dryer. It is the bronze color. It has tiny hairline scratches on the surface. How can I get rid of them?

Try some automotive rubbing compound. Use an applicator sponge and work a light coat of the compound into the painted surface using small circular patterns. Allow the compound to dry to a hazy finish, then buff off with a clean cotton cloth. You can follow up with a light coat of car wax to keep the finish shining. Yes...automotive products can restore the metal finish (if not severely damaged) of most appliance cabinets. I hope this helps you.

Note: To ensure the rubbing compound will give you desired results, test the product in a small area before coating the entire surface.

I opened the door before the self cleaning cycle was finished? It was blowing and I thought my husband left it on when he left. I came home and walked past it and felt the air, so I pushed oven off and...

You have most likely caused one or more fuse relays to blow.
The self-clean operation can not be interrupted before the cycle is complete without causing issues.
There is the main fuse inside the control panel and 2 fuse relays on rear of the oven.
In order to access these fuses you must open the door, then remove the mounting screws to remove the oven from its cabinet..
Use a wire coat hanger bent into a "U" shape on one end.
The door latch is in the center of the door on the top oven.
Slide the bent wire coat hanger between the door and the oven opening.
The "U" of the coat hanger will be right center of the door latch.
Slowly pull the "U" to the left until it catches the latch.
Then pull steady and forcefully to pull the latch mechanism to the left while putting pressure on the door to open it.
Once the door is open you can begin to access the parts for diagnosis and repair.

Finish on "stainless steel" door is deteriorating

Refrigerator was sold as 'stainless steel', but is not, a magnet won't stick to it.
There are many different alloys that are called 'stainless' steel but all of them have some chrome, some nickel and some steel. Depending on the strength of the magnet and the specific alloy, it may or may not adhere. Generally, the higher chrome and nickel content, the less magnetic it will be.
I think that the brushed surface of your fridge was coated with a kind of clear-coat to prevent fingerprints from adhereing to the brushed surface and that clear-coat is now missing in the areas of concern.
The only cure for tha would be the wholesale removal of the doors and the remaining clear finish and then respraying it with a quality clear finsh.
Ain't progress grand?
We considered all stainless stuff for our new home a couple of years ago, decided we liked black better and now hate that too.
