SOURCE: Kenmore 80 series won't spin

If it is draining then the motor is turning the pump so it is ok.
This washer has no belt so that is not the problem.
Remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch wires and put into a spin. Watch the clutch to see if it is turning. If the clutch housing is not turning and you know for sure the coupler is not broken then you need a new transmission. If the clutch housing is turning but the basket is not spinning you have something binding the basket or you need a new basket drive and clutch.
If you have only looked at the coupler from underneath you may not be able to tell if it is broken in the center. If it is broken again your transmission is not staying in neutral drain until the water is drained. That means it is going into spin with full load of clothes and water. This puts a lot of pressure on the coupler and causes them to fail prematurely. If this is the case you will need a new transmission.
Post back if you have any questions.

SOURCE: won't spin

check your lid switch ...on the lid you see a little plunger this should go into a slot areound the rim of the washer and close a switch. you can try a small screwdriver to press it in while in the spin cycle..see if it works then if not the sw will have to be replaced as this needs to be closed (lid) before the unit will pump out and spin

SOURCE: series 90 Kenmore washes but won't rinse or spin

A washer that fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price. If you still need assistance, please contact me and let me know. Have you checked for any damage on the lid switch at all? Washers won't engage the cycle you're having issues with if the lid switch is faulty. usually a magnet or plastic piece that pushes down the piece to engage agitation.

I have a Kenmore 60 series heavy duty washer. It will wash and drain in all cycles just fine, but it won't spin. It sounds like it wants to spin but it wont.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the washer fills but does not agitate or spin then you can check if the lid switch is fine. You can jump start the lid switch by connecting both the wires with each other or use the third wire to act as jumper between the two. After this if the problem is solved then replacing lid switch is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Spin cycle works sometimes, lid switch is clicking and rest of washer cycle works fine. when spin cycle kicks in it works good, sometimes it just sits there.

Just because the lid switch is clicking does not mean it is working correctly although it is good your checking this because this is the most common issue on these when they fail to spin. You maight also have a bad pressure switch on the inside of the control panel. If youtake the panel off and pull it back there is a pressure switch located on the panen with a tube hooked to it, take the tube off and blow through it to make sure it is clear. This tube is hooked to the drum and it tell the washer what the water level is and if it thinks it still has water in it then it won't spin. I bet it is one of these two items causing your troubles.

Kenmore washer fills with water but no cycles work.

There should be a pressure switch problem. It should have a little tube that runs from the cycle selector switch to the drum. The tube is clogged, pinched, or the switch needs to be replaced. Good Luck!

I have a kenmore top load washer that stops & starts during wash agitation cycle and then sits with water & doen't go to spin cycle

check the lid switch, open the lid and use a pen or screw driver and touch the lid switch and listen for a click,if it doesn't click change the lid switch,if that's ok check the coupling, take off the front of the washer, take off the pump and then take out the two screws on the clamps that hold the motor in place, when you remove the motor you'll see the coupling,

My kenmore won't pump out the water. what could

couple of possible reasons and this will vary by brand of machine...lid switch could be bad...some machines will wash or agitate with lid up but will not spin unless lid is closed..others will not do nothing with lid up....some brands will not spin if the water level switch can detect water in the tub...this means your machine didnt pump the water out of the machine so it could spin couple of reasons for this 1 bad pump or bad pump motor(some machines have a pump that is driven by a drifferent motor than the one that drives the transmission)usually these machines use the water level switch to activate(turn on/off) the pump when the machine goes into spin cycle... some machines the pump wil come on and stay on for the entire spin cycle...some machines the belt will be bad and you just need a new belt....first thing to do is see if raising the lid will turn the machine off when it is in wash cycle if it does not..then it will in spin cycle..if the machine will not work in spin cycle the lid switch will be the reason why..

Washer will not spin

if it agitates but will not spin it sounds like you either have a bad lid switch or clutch. check your lid switch first when opening and closeing the lid do you hear a click sound?

Kenmore washer will not spin or drain water, agitate works fine

Sounds like a lid switch. there should be a hole under the lid on the right side about the size of a dime. Make sure the plastic "flipper" is inside and "clicks" when you push down on it with a pen.

with the machine off, turn the cycle dial around 3x very harshly, then try it again. If it works normally now, you'll need a new cycle switch soon!
