Question about LG 50PG20 50 in. Plasma HDTV
Try disconnection of everything, it could be the set OR the signal coming in, do not void your warranty on the set by opening it.
I would first depending on the sat system reboot that to see if issue is there and talk to the provider.
You really need to find out if set or signal and my money would be the signal.
Another thing you might check is this set slow to change inputs from video to tuner etc, I have seen sets that were,.

Make a hard reset to this set and check. If it do not help you, replace this set, as it has fault with its main tuner board. Why do you spend for it, when the set is in warranty period?.

SOURCE: LG 50" plasma tv
call 877-543-8325 this is an LG Executive call center and they will fix this for free. I have a 50" plasma I bought january 2006 which is out of warranty by 5 months. They faxed me and the LG repair shop a 30 day warranty for my tv to cover the repair. Just tell them you heard a pop and in my case the picture is distorted. All they need is the model number and serial number and they should take care of it. No arguing needed.

SOURCE: 1/2 the screen goes black
Hi there! According to the Model Number supplied, this is a 42" Plasma. This problem would normally be caused by the bottom Y-Drive board. However it may also be one of the connector plugs which was not plugged in properly in the factory. Check where the Y-Sus Board is located. There are 2 Y-Drive boards connected to the Y-Sus Board. Top and Bottom. The Bottom one may be at fault. Be careful when removing any flexible ribbon cables as these can easily tear. Also unplug from mains before removing the cover. If the panel is 4 months old it should still be under warranty. Make notes before dissassembly. Best Wishes and Good luck, Jus004.

I had the same problem with my LG 50 inch TV that I bought from Best Buy in Nov 2006. Fortunately I had the service plan. They had to replace the power supply board as 9 capacitors popped, so the TV would turn on them pop and go black and turn itself off. The TV has been a pain. I have the built in DVR and that has failed twice. I have had 3 repairs through best buy. One more time they owe me a new TV when they come out.

This sounds like a software problem. Have you tried updating the software for this TV.
You can download from Internet, save it to a flash drive then plug in to TV. And update.
Hope this helps..
