SOURCE: front load gas dryer lg model dlg 5988w does not heat

This can obviously be several things, but I would first check the small safety thermostat. On the gas models, there is a small pin sticking out of it which can be pushed back in to reset it. It is located on the heater housing and is only about the size of a dime, with two wires on it. This will trip out easily if your vent was not clean, or is long or restricted in some ways (like using flex ducting)
If you need more help getting to it, let me know and I'll give you more instructions.

Dryer doesn't heat

I'll take a stab at this and hope I can help ! It could very well be your vent .. After three years of venting gases from drying, it is possible and quite probable that your vent may be restricting airflow from lint/other byproducts of drying. A quick check might be to run a separate vent ( temporary ) in place of your existing one to see if that solves the problem. I assume your dryer is Gas and not electric from the G in the DLG id. If it was electric, then you could vent it in the room for a quick check but since it is gas, I would discourage that. Check the flapper on the end of your vent too to make sure it is opening up when you dry clothes.. the screens on them prevent birds etc from going inside your duct work but they also make a nice place for lint to build up and restrict the air flow. Hope that helps !
