First I would check to make sure your vent is not clogged or kinked. As far as the timer, the only fix would be to replace it. Unless of course you have the feature that detects the dryness and that would put you back at the venting problem. Good luck.

Whirlpool dryers in this series are about 7 cu. ft.
Here is the user manual and it lists suggested maximum loading by articles of laundry (number of towels, sheets, etc.) on page 4 :
