That is a defective LCD panel, a replacement panel will cost more than a new set.

SOURCE: My Sanyo DP46848 LCD TV display goes black when turned on.

My mother's was doing the same thing (purchased 2008). Put up with it about 6 months and took it to a repair shop. Bottom line - the display panel has a flaw in and will cost more to replace than the tv cost. See about it now it yours is still under warranty.

First try to gently push the cable between the main board and the LCD controller (T-CON) board and if that doesn't affect the image then replace the T-con board.

No picture there used to be lines at the top

It sounds that there is some loose contacts with any cable connectors, or to any solder terminals at the circuit board. It will be best to contact any service technician, or the authorized service center for Sanyo. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

Sanyo DP46848 im stumped lol... with nothing connected ( aka ) cable and or any other components .. just plug and turn on .. the screen has a solid blue bar from top to bottom with small white lines in...

Although you have not posted a picture, I believe you may have a screen or LCD panel problem, the panels have film connections that go from the t-con module, through the panel control pc boards then through thinn film connectors from the lcd screen. Likely this is the problem.

You have a defective LCD panel tab connection. The only permanent fix is to replace the panel. A replacement panel will cost more than a new set. I had the same problem with the exact same set.

Sanyo 46 IN. tv DP46848. The left 1/3 of screen is dark

It is a common problem for this model of a Sanyo TV, it uses a Samsung or Chime LCD panel.

The problem is the data buffer IC soldered on the flat flex cable between the LCD panel & the buffer board that gets damaged or loose soldering. If you be able to fix yourself, you may find some videos on YouTube, it will show you how to fix the buffer problem.
