First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

SOURCE: This message comes up after I turn on my laptop

Note: Before going through any options make sure you are not in warranty. Under warranty products are recommended to be given back to vendor for solution

There could be 2 reasons.

1. OS Corrupted / Not installed
2. Hard Disk loose connection

For first option you can try repairing your OS by loading the OS CD during repairing if it doesnt finds you hard disk then definately it would be related to loose connection of Hard disk.

For second you might need to unscrew few screws after going through your laptop manual.

Go to boot and select the boot order.Use F4 or F5 to change.
First boot device: Cd/dvd drive
Second: the harddrive.
Leave the bios and save the settings.

Place your windows cd in the drive and reboot.
Now you can install windows again.

I have a toshiba satellite l655d-s5093 with windows 7 and it shows pxe-mof exiting intel pxe rom... no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key. any help to restore my computer? Thanks

Try a "Cold-Start",Remove all media, DVD, CD, USB..etc., Remove AC plug, Remove Battery, Hold down on/off button for 10 seconds, Replace battery, Plug into AC outlet,Push on/off button and Start normally.
IF THAT FAILS, try F-8 during pre boot, try to get to safe mode, or F12 to enter restore /recovery. After each try cold start, remove battery during this process.

I Cant get my toshiba satellite L305D-S5974 to load. I get either a blank screen with curser arrow or message that says: no bootable device -- insert booth disk and press any key. Can't find any of my...

The laptop is not seeing any hard drive. remove the panel underneath (2 screws) and remove and refit the hard drive. If it still does not work then enter the bios by hitting the F2 key while booting and look at that page. under HDD model name and hdd serial number there should be information on the drive. If there is such info then the drive is being seen but cannot be accessed. Anyway it looks like the drive has had it. You will need to find your windows disk when you fit a new drive and reinstall windows.
