Question about Epson Perfection 2400 Photo Flatbed Scanner

Cloudy glass inside scanner

Used my scanner for a about 2 weeks this past summer (August) Took it out to use again and found the glass was very clouded. Couldn't scan pictures or documents at any contrast or resolution to compensate for the fog. I wiped the glass surface (outside) with a vinegar, water and dishsoap solution but it didn't help. Looks like the cloudiness is from the inside of the glass. How do I fix this?

You have a damp room, you need to put a sachet in the scanner the ones you get with new shoes or electrical devices in the packaging. this will clear up the scanner also have one in the room you can buy tubs that remove water vapor from the room .

SOURCE: scanner glass clean

Cleaning the glass is rather simple. Take the 2 screws under the cover out. Now gently lift the top part of the scanner (some force may be needed). Then the scanner is in 2 parts and the glass can be cleaned inside and outside with a wet wipe glass cleaning pad. Dry the glass with a towel and inspect the glass with a lamp, that no cleanser remains are left. Now install the scanner in reverse order.

SOURCE: The glass pannel of the scanner of my Epson Stylus TX100 is cloudy/fogged up/dirty on the inside. How do I clean it?

Do a Google search on how to disassemble it to clean the glass. Before you do this, scan something to see it if works. You don't want to waste hours of time only to discover that it's dead.
These older scanners are dirt cheap so don't waste too much time or money fixing old **** that's gonna fail soon anyway.

The scanner glass inside is cloudy

I recommend you do not take off the glass. I have done it and was never able to get rid of the dust, which really shows up on every scan. The fogging has something to do with an optical coating on the underside of the glass. If I knew then what I know now, I would let it be. If the fogging doesn't show up in scans, leave it. If it really does show up, the glass itself is often held down by simple double stick tape. You try to keep the tape intact so you can put it back down. It may be strong enough that the plastic frame on top of it could snap. Do it in as clean (not dusty) environment as possible so dust does not drift down inside the scanner. Never touch the lamp or move the scan mechanism. Again, don't do it unless it's showing up on scan results. Sadly, nobody "fixes" scanners, they are disposable, like coffee pots, even if they cost 300.00.

Scanner window is cloudy on bottom. needs to be wiped clean

if you are a technical kind of guy you may want to download the service manual from MAISE MANUALS to see the correct proceedure to remove the platen glass without damaging your scanner!
attempting to do this without good instruction will most definatley be a bad day for your printer this job would likely take me about 3/4hr to complete as to remove the glass several covers need removing.

There is a white film on the inside of the door plus glasses and utensils. This problem just started a few weeks ago.(the dishwasher is just about two years old). We use cascade and jet dry rinse agent,

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

How to clean the underside of the scanner glass on an HP4400C flatbed scanner.

This is acutally easier than it looks. I just had the same problem with a cloudy film starting to form underneath the glass on my older HP 4400C scanner.

First completely remove the hinged top lid by lifting straight up on both long ends of the lid - notice the 2 hinges on the back end of the lid will come straight up and out of the body of the scanner, still attached to the lid.

Next look down inside the 2 hinge holes (on the main body of the scanner where the lid hinges just came out of) and you will see a screw in each hole. Remove both screws using a phillips screwdriver. This will allow the rear end of the scanner to come apart enough so you can now lift it up a few inches to separate it and get your hand inside there to clean the underside of the glass with a soft cloth - BUT JUST REMEMBER THE FRONT END OF THE SCANNER WILL STILL BE CONNECTED, so don't pull it too far apart because it could snap and break something that is still holding the front end together. (I could not figure out how to separate the front end piece, and then I realized I didn't have to).

So on the rear end of the scanner, now carefully pull the light upper colored plastic apart from the lower dark plastic just enough so you can get your hand inside the compartment and use a soft cloth to clean the underside of the glass. I just used a small piece of an old cotton t-shirt with a couple little dabs of water on it and then just kept rubbing the dirty areas on the underside of the glass over and over until all the dust film/streaks disappeared and the glass was once again clean and all clear.

Then gently lower the glass back down and line up the plastic pieces together on the rear end and put the 2 screws back in the hinge holes, and then reinsert the hinges in their slots and lower the lid back on top of the scanner glass and it is ready to go again !!

Hope this works for you like it did for me.

Cloudy scanning

Hi, perhaps the Platter Glass is dirty or dust has gotten into the base and onto the scanning head... try giving it a good clean, I use compressed air cans, when in the field and nitrogen at the Lab, and blow the dust and dirt away.. Use a good quality Glass Cleaner OR Methylated Spirits on the Glass, NOT the Scan Head tho.. Just Blast that with the "Canned Air".. I have even used a Vacuum cleaner set to "Blow" in a pinch..
