If the picture tube neck has got any crack, the TV wont switch ON. Check it. If the circuit board inside have cracked, the TV won't switch ON. Your TV need a through check up. Dell Dimension 3100 won't boot; keyboard fell off the table onto the tower; am getting 1-3-2 beep codes. Is this fixable?

Just because they hit the tower should not have hurt anything.

But, you should turn it off, pull the power plug, then hit the power button, then again and make sure the lights don't turn on or flash.

This make's sure that all the power is gone from the motherboard.

Before you touch the inside, make sure you touch metal, so you don't static shock the motherboard.

Now open the the side up. I would remove the two power connectors, one should be a 20-24 pin and another 4 pin.

Reset them to make sure they didn't come lose.

Check the HDD, hard drive plugs, fan plugs, the CPU fan plug.

Then check the monitor connection, and any on the back.

Try the monitor on another PC, or a monitor from another PC on this PC.

A hard shock to the power supply unit (PSU ) can kill it, it can still turn on the lights but not have the voltage to run it.

If you do all this and are safe and careful checking inside and out, then you might have to take it to someone who can test it.

You can also download the manual so you know what it looks like inside the PC and what the motherboard looks like and how you would set it up when new.

Good luck.

32" TV fell over onto carpeted floor and won't

It's probably a write-off. The circuit board inside has been cracked so that some of the copper traces that connect parts have broken. This commonly happens around the area of the horizontal output transformer, which is heavy. The shock of the fall causes the transformer to bounce and breaks the board. Other areas too may have been damaged because of flexing. And worst, the picture tube can be damaged in a fall, so it either doesn't work at all or shows permanently distorted colors.

It's tough to find anyone willing to repair a set that's fallen. Many circuit board tracks are very narrow and hard to repair. Then it's difficult to know if all the damage has been found and repaired, so even if the set starts working a technician doesn't know if something else won't go wrong. And then there's that bad tube possibility; no technician likes to spend lots of time fixing a broken board only to find the set then needs a new tube. Trust me, this has happened to me several times during my career in TV shops.

Your best bet is to use this as an excuse to buy a new LCD or plasma TV. 40-inch models, a good size match for a 32-inch CRT (tube) model, are reasonably priced.

Out on boat when starter motor on mercury 70hp 3cylinder stopped working.back on shore took it off and put it back on.when turning enine over starter seeems to spin in wrong direction and not spinning up...

Spin Backward? that's not good. Would check the battery connections. If backward- you may have other problems associated with backward battery connections and ignition systems. If it's just an optical illusion- you should try to bridge the starter solenoid with a jumper to the big terminals and see if the starter is really bad or just a low battery. If your battery is down, your charge system on the motor may be giving you trouble.

Your starter when sitting on the bench and directly hit with 12 volts should jump substantially with the torque. If it just spins like a fan motor- it's shot.

If jumping the solenoid makes it work, thats the problem. But clean or replace the cable ends on the bat and solenoid first.

Just a note: you should be able to pull start that motor by wrapping a noted rope round the pulley on top of the flywheel. If you ever get stuck again. Just watch where the knotted end of the rope goes.

Probably not the cat - don't skin it yet!

Try pulling the AC plug and leaving the set stew in its own juices for 24 hours.

You may have had a line surge (from distant lightning or 'just because' by the power company) during your absence that temporarily addled its brain.

As an additional precaution, change the batteries in your remote and use alkaline types if you don't already.
